Infection Control Nurse & Nurse Educator

Job Responsibilities:

• Undertake laboratory analysis and monitoring of microbial cultures, samples and new drugs
• planning and carrying out trials
• tracking environmental microorganism development
• growing microbe cultures
• developing new pharmaceutical products, vaccines, medicines and compounds such as antiseptics
• Promotes quality processes ensuring the maintenance of effective communication and working relationships between nursing services and other departments within hospital services
• Co-ordinate approach to policy and procedure development
• Supports and leads staff in Infection Control principles
• Achieves Infection Control KPIs
• Adheres to budgetary requirements
• Regular monitoring and evaluation of clinical practice relating to Infection Control and Quality
• Identify training required and arrange relevant educational programs and in-services
• Knowledge of EQuIP, accreditation and Infection Control standards, guidelines and procedures
• Plan, coordinate and implement educational and staff development programs relating to Quality and Infection Control for all staff
• Research, recommend, implement and review preventative measures that will ensure the highest level of health care and safety is maintained
• Coordinate consumer satisfaction surveys and ensure the results are reported back to staff /management
• Co-ordinates, implements and monitors the quality improvement program within the facilities resulting in optimal patient outcomes
• Keep abreast of current practices in the fields of quality and identify opportunities for benchmarking
• Effective and appropriate patterns of communication are maintained both within the organization and external to the organization
• Documentation meets ethical and legal requirements.
• Confidentiality of both written and electronic patient/staff information is maintained
• Ensure the effective management and evaluation of hospital wide accreditation program
• Ensure the effective management and evaluation of hospital wide accreditation program
• Achieves and maintain Infection Control accreditation requirements
