Role Overview: We are looking for a passionate and hands-on R&D Engineer to join our core team and help optimize formulations, scale up production processes, and improve the material’s performance characteristics such as texture, strength, and durability. Key Responsibilities: Conduct experiments on bio-composites, binders, and coating formulations for leather-like materials. Operate lab-scale and pilot-scale equipment such as mixers, ovens, and chemical reactors. Analyze material properties (mechanical strength, flexibility, water resistance, biodegradability). Support scaling from pilot to semi-commercial production. Qualifications: Bachelor’s / Master’s in Materials Science, Leather Technology, Polymer Science, or Chemical Engineering. 0–3 years of experience (freshers with lab skills and passion for sustainability are welcome). Understanding of bio-based polymers, coatings, or composites preferred. Hands-on lab experience and strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and contribute to a startup environment. Nice-to-Have: Familiarity with alternative leather materials or biodegradable plastics. Experience in formulation development, processing, or characterization. Job Title: Polymer Compounding Engineer The Polymer Compounding Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and running polymer compounding formulations and processes to produce consistent, high-quality granules or sheets for downstream processing applications. The role combines hands-on plant work with formulation, troubleshooting, and cross-functional coordination in production and quality. Key responsibilities Develop, scale up, and optimize polymer compound formulations using base resins, fillers, plasticizers, stabilizers, colorants, and other additives to meet target properties. Plan, set up, and operate compounding equipment (internal mixer, twin-screw extruder, high-speed mixers, pelletizers) and define operating windows (temperature profile, screw speed, throughput, feeding sequence). Conduct lab-scale and pilot-scale trials, record process parameters, and evaluate compound properties (MFI, rheology, tensile, elongation, hardness, impact, thermal behavior, dispersion quality). Monitor routine production batches, analyze in-process and final QC data, and implement corrective actions to address process or quality deviations. Prepare and maintain technical documentation: formulation cards, SOPs, process sheets, control plans, and change-control records. Work closely with QA/QC to define specifications, sampling plans, and acceptance criteria for raw materials and finished compounds. Support root-cause analysis for customer complaints and internal rejections; drive continuous improvement, cost optimization, and waste reduction in compounding. Coordinate with maintenance and production teams to ensure high line uptime, proper cleaning procedures, and safe operation of equipment. Evaluate new raw materials and suppliers, conduct comparative trials, and provide techno-commercial recommendations.
