About The Role We are seeking an experienced Senior COBOL Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining COBOL-based applications, with a deep understanding of legacy systems and mainframe environments. You will work closely with business analysts, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and efficient solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using COBOL (Mainframe / Micro Focus COBOL). Enhance, debug, and optimize existing legacy applications. Work with JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and other mainframe tools/environments. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Perform system analysis, design documentation, and code reviews. Support production systems, troubleshoot issues, and provide timely resolutions. Ensure code quality, performance, and compliance with established standards. Participate in migration, modernization, and integration projects (if applicable). Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance. Required Skills & Qualifications 8+ years of hands-on experience in COBOL development. Strong working knowledge of Mainframe environments (JCL, CICS, DB2, IMS, VSAM, TSO/ISPF). Proficient in debugging, performance tuning, and production support. Solid understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies. Experience with version control tools (e.g., Endevor, Changeman, or equivalent). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. (ref:hirist.tech)
