Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Instruction:
  • Lecture Delivery: Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Health Psychology, including topics such as stress and coping, health behavior change, psychological factors in chronic illness, pain management, and psychological interventions in health care.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and update the syllabus for health psychology courses to reflect the latest research and developments in the field. Design course materials and integrate current case studies or emerging trends in health psychology.
  • Practical Sessions: Conduct interactive sessions, workshops, and group discussions that allow students to explore real-world applications of health psychology principles.
  • Student Assessment: Evaluate students through exams, assignments, case studies, and practical projects. Provide constructive feedback to enhance students' understanding of health psychology concepts.
  • Mentoring and Academic Support: Guide students in their academic and research development, providing mentorship on projects, dissertations, and career guidance within the field of health psychology.
  • Research:
  • Conduct Research: Engage in independent and collaborative research in health psychology, focusing on topics like health behavior, mental health, coping strategies, psychological aspects of chronic illness, or the role of psychological interventions in health outcomes.
  • Publish Research: Publish original research findings in peer-reviewed academic journals, present at conferences, and contribute to the broader understanding of psychological influences on health.
  • Research Supervision: Supervise graduate and undergraduate students in their research projects, guiding them through the research process, from hypothesis development to data collection and analysis.
  • Grant Applications: Seek funding opportunities for research projects by applying for grants from academic or government organizations.
  • Clinical and Applied Practice (Optional, depending on the institution):
  • Clinical Practice: If applicable, work with clinical settings (e.g., hospitals, mental health clinics) to apply psychological principles to patient care, especially in relation to chronic diseases, pain management, or mental health conditions like anxiety and depression.
  • Behavioral Interventions: Teach students how to develop and implement psychological interventions that promote healthy behaviors, such as smoking cessation, weight management, or stress reduction.
  • Administrative and Departmental Duties:
  • Departmental Involvement: Participate in departmental meetings and academic committees to help shape the direction of the psychology program and ensure its alignment with the latest developments in health psychology.
  • Curriculum Review and Accreditation: Assist with accreditation processes and curriculum reviews to ensure that the health psychology program meets academic and professional standards.
  • Student Counseling: Provide academic advice and career guidance to students pursuing a career in psychology, particularly those interested in health psychology and related fields.
  • Community Outreach and Service:
  • Public Awareness: Organize and participate in public seminars, webinars, and community outreach programs aimed at raising awareness about the role of psychology in health promotion, disease prevention, and mental health.
  • Consultation: Provide expertise on health psychology issues to local healthcare organizations, policy-makers, or community programs focused on health and well-being.
  • Workshops and Training: Conduct workshops for healthcare professionals on topics related to psychological care, patient coping strategies, and mental health integration in healthcare settings.
  • Professional Development:
  • Stay Updated: Continuously stay informed about advancements in health psychology, including new research, treatment methods, and theoretical approaches.
  • Conferences and Networking: Attend national and international conferences, workshops, and symposia in the field of health psychology, contributing to and learning from the broader academic and professional community.
  • Teaching Innovation: Explore new teaching techniques and educational technologies to enhance the learning experience for students in the health psychology field.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Psychology (with a specialization in Health Psychology or Clinical Psychology).
  • Ph.D. in Health Psychology or a closely related field is highly preferred, particularly for research-oriented roles.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹45,945.51 per month
