Head of Operations – Solar EPC Location: Tamil Nadu (with frequent site travel) Experience: 12–20 years (minimum 6–8 years in Solar EPC execution) Industry: Renewable Energy / Solar EPC About the Role We are a fast-growing Solar EPC company executing utility-scale and C&I solar projects across Tamil Nadu and other parts of India. We are looking to onboard a highly experienced Chief Operating Officer / Head of Operations who will take complete ownership of end-to-end project execution , procurement, logistics, and cross-functional coordination. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for professionals who have personally delivered large MW-scale solar projects , understand ground realities, and can drive teams, vendors, and systems with discipline and clarity. Key Responsibilities 1. Project Planning & Execution Own end-to-end execution of Solar EPC projects (DC & AC side) Prepare and monitor detailed project execution plans (Gantt/MS Project/Primavera) Track daily, weekly, and monthly progress across multiple sites Ensure timely completion while maintaining quality, safety, and compliance Identify execution risks early and drive mitigation plans 2. Procurement & Vendor Management Finalise BOQs and procurement plans aligned with execution schedules Lead vendor selection, negotiations, and PO finalisation Coordinate timely delivery of modules, inverters, structures, cables, and BOS items Control cost overruns and protect project margins. 3. Logistics, Stores & Inventory Control Plan inbound logistics from vendors to sites Implement site-level stock registers and material reconciliation Minimise losses, pilferage, and idle inventory Ensure accurate GRNs and coordination with accounts team 4. Cost Control & Financial Coordination Track project-wise cost vs budget Flag deviations and margin risks in advance Support finance team with billing milestones and documentation Work closely with accounts on vendor payments and cash-flow planning 5. Cross-Functional Coordination Act as the central coordination point between: Site teams Procurement & logistics Accounts & finance Liaisoning & approvals Business development & marketing O&M and commissioning teams Ensure smooth handover from execution to commissioning and O&M 6. Reporting & Governance Provide structured weekly and monthly reports to management Maintain execution dashboards and performance metrics Build repeatable systems and SOPs for scalable growth Required Qualifications & Experience Mandatory B.E / B.Tech in Electrical / Mechanical. 12–20 years total experience Minimum 6–8 years in Solar EPC execution Proven track record of executing 50 MW or more cumulative solar projects Strong knowledge of: Utility-scale and/or C&I solar projects DC & AC systems EPC contracts, BOQs, and vendor management Indian grid, DISCOM, and approval processes Language Skills (Non-Negotiable) Fluent spoken and written English Fluent spoken Tamil (mandatory – site & stakeholder communication) Working knowledge of Hindi (preferred) Key Competencies Strong execution mindset with field exposure Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Cost-conscious and detail-oriented Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously Comfortable working in high-pressure, fast-moving environments Leadership skills to manage site teams, contractors, and vendors Compensation Competitive senior-management compensation, aligned with experience and capability
