Business Development Manager Designation : Asst. Manager / Manager - Business Development Experience : 8-10 Years Salary : Open Qualification : BE Civil/Mechanical/Electrical or MBA Location : Mumbai Role: As a Business Development Manager, you will be a part of an established consultancy company that is trying to widen its services beyond its core. Hence, knowledge about new trends and opportunities in consulting engineering and beyond will be critical to create new streams of business opportunities. The primary role of the Business Development Manager is to bring new business prospects by networking, cold calling, advertising, or other means of generating interest from potential clients. You must then plan persuasive approaches and pitches that will convince potential clients to do business with the company. You must develop a rapport with new clients and provide support that will continually improve the relationship. You are also required to grow and retain existing clients by presenting new solutions and services. Strategic planning is a key part of this job, since it is the business manager’s responsibility to develop the pipeline of new business opportunities. This requires a thorough knowledge of the market, the solutions/services the company can provide, and of the company’s competitors. The main duties of the Business Development Manager can be summarized as follows: Business Development  Prospect for potential new clients and new opportunities and turn this into increased business.  Support in identifying and developing new business prospects through networking, research, cold calling, and digital outreach.  Cold call as appropriate within your market or geographic area to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.  Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.  Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization.  Research and build relationships in new and emerging sectors by creating needed partnership and identifying new clients needing those services beyond the core services being offered by the company.  Set up meetings between client decision makers and company’s practice leaders/ Principals.  Work with team to develop proposals that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns and objectives.  Participate in pricing the solution/ service, including agreeing pricing and execution strategy with teams to ensure profitability on execution.  Deal with objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion. Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately.  Present an image that provides compelling message to the client.  Build a healthy pipeline of leads using MS Teams, AI tools, and digital platforms to map opportunities and target potential clients.  Assist in developing persuasive presentations, proposals, and pitches that align with client needs and company offerings.  Conduct preliminary research on markets, clients, and competitors to create focused outreach plans.  Identify and explore opportunities for strategic partnerships and collaborations to support business growth. Client Retention  Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.  Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.  Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.  Generate leads from existing clients and new leads from the open market.  Support client engagement activities, follow up on leads, and ensure effective communication throughout the business development cycle.  Assist in enhancing client relationships by identifying new requirements and potential service extensions. Business Development Planning  Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.  Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.  Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in business.  Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.  Provides inputs for revenue targets and identification of key markets and clients for business growth.  Identify, create and maintain KPI’s for marketing and business development efforts. Market Intelligence & Growth Support  Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and upcoming projects to provide actionable insights.  Participate in the preparation of business plans, marketing strategies, and bid documents.  Contribute to the creation of marketing content, capability statements, and promotional materials.  Utilize data analytics and AI-assisted tools to forecast business trends and improve pipeline visibility. Technical Skill Set Required:  Collecting & maintaining market intelligence  Preparation of Business Plans (Short & Medium term)  Presentation Skills  Experience in registering, e-tendering for Govt./ Statutory Bodies projects (Domestic & International)  Ability to estimate / validate man-hours, profitability  Understanding of legal and commercial terms for the purpose of tendering and development of proposals  Familiarity with engineering, infrastructure, or consulting sectors.  Proficiency in MS Teams, CRM tools, and AI-based business intelligence platforms.  Strong communication and presentation skills.  Experience in lead generation, client engagement, and business research.  Understanding of proposal preparation, tender processes, and bid documentation.
