The Role: As a Consultant / Sr. Consultant in the Chemicals, Materials & Resources (CMR) practice, you will play a key role in driving client engagements focused on growth and opportunity assessments, technology scouting and innovation strategy, partner assessments, competitive and peer intelligence. Your domain expertise in one or multiple areas within specialty chemicals and advanced materials, and resource transformation will support clients in shaping high-impact innovation and growth strategies. You will work at the intersection of science, engineering, and market dynamics—analyzing growth opportunities, emerging technologies, evaluating innovation pipelines, and helping B2B clients in Chemicals, Materials, and Resource (CMR) sectors unlock new value through material innovation and growth-led transformation. Responsibilities: Innovation & Growth Consulting • Lead and contribute to consulting engagements focused on identifying growth opportunities in new and existing markets, scouting emerging technologies, R&D trends landscaping, product and process innovation in Chemicals, Materials, and Resource (CMR) sectors. • Analyze innovation and growth pipelines across areas such as chemical/material building blocks & intermediates, specialty chemicals, advanced materials, and sustainable products. • Develop techno-commercial evaluations and scenario-based roadmaps for technology adoption, market/segment entry, and scale-up. • Translate innovation and growth insights into actionable business strategies for clients across multiple end-use industries (e.g., packaging, automotive, construction, electronics, consumer goods, and energy-intensive industries). Research & Analysis • Conduct structured primary and secondary research across specialty chemicals, polymers, advanced materials, and resource transformation ecosystems. • Assess industry trends, competitive developments, market needs, and whitespace opportunities. • Support development of proprietary models, frameworks, and IP that power FutureScaleX’s platforms and tools. Client Engagement & Advisory: • Engage directly with client teams to understand business challenges and co-create problem-solving approaches. • Deliver clear, concise, and insightful presentations and written reports to C-suite and strategy teams. • Serve as a trusted advisor on growth and innovation pathways within the CMR space. Thought Leadership & Platform Development • Contribute to FutureScaleX’s thought leadership by authoring white papers, articles, webinars, and thematic reports. • Support the development of digital platform modules and intelligence assets tailored to CMR domain use cases. • Represent FSX at industry conferences, webinars, and workshops to strengthen visibility and market presence. Project Leadership & Collaboration • Manage small teams and cross-functional workstreams to deliver high-quality outputs on time and within scope. • Collaborate closely with experts in chemicals, materials, and resources ecosystem to create integrated solutions. Business Development Support: • Contribute to business development efforts by identifying growth opportunities, potential clients, developing relevant collaterals (pitch-books, solution decks, case studies, among others), and delivering product/platform demonstrations to potential clients. • Collaborate with clients to comprehensively understand their key business needs and challenges. • Prepare persuasive proposals as needed that clearly outline the client’s objective and goal, operational solutions, methodologies, benefits, and pricing. • Assist in developing and nurturing client relationships, aiming to expand our services. Qualifications: • Required Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Metallurgy, or related technical disciplines. • MBA or business degree is a plus but not mandatory. • Mandatory 5+ years of relevant experience in a consulting role focused on innovation and growth within the CMR domain. • Must have deep understanding of research and advisory methodologies, including secondary and primary research, patent and scientific literature research, data triangulation and validation, and ability to work with regulatory, technical, and business databases (such as IEA, World Bank, IMF, OECD, Orbit, Scopus, Web of Science, Factiva, Crunchbase, Bloomberg, legislative databases, trade databases, among others). • Proven ability to simplify complex technical topics into clear, business-relevant narratives. • Required proficiency with research tools, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with databases and visualization tools is a plus. • Good written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to senior stakeholders. • Must have strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills backed by logical reasoning to arrive at robust conclusions. • Must have the ability and willingness to lead and collaborate in a fast-paced, intellectually rigorous environment.
The Role: As a member of FutureScaleX's (FSX) Energy Practice, you will support our research and consulting engagements pertaining to fields like biofuels/e-SAF, data center flexibility, grid technologies, and energy policy assessment, providing in-depth analysis, strategic insights, and actionable recommendations to our energy clients. Your expertise will also contribute to the development of our knowledge base. Overall, this is a high-impact, entrepreneurial role, offering you the opportunity to shape up FSX’s energy business from the outset. Responsibilities: • Support primary and secondary research efforts for ongoing projects. Develop and maintain research models, methodologies, and frameworks. • Synthesize research findings for client-ready deliverables. Present project analysis to both internal and external stakeholders. • Support FSX leadership in business development activities by contributing to proposals, discovery documents, blogs, and white papers. • Build and maintain strong client relationships, helping cement FSX’s position as a trusted advisor in the energy market. • Support internal ideation, brainstorming, and research efforts for concepts and market validation. Qualifications: • Degree in a science-related field/economics with 3 - 5 years in the energy sector with experience in either of the following fields: power, oil and gas, or new energies (Hydrogen/CCUS). • Proven experience as an analyst or consultant, preferably in management consulting, market research, or an advisory firm. • Strong storytelling and quantitative skills, with the ability to analyse complex data sets and derive meaningful insights.
