Foundry Supervisor / Manager

Role & responsibilities

Hands-on experience in CO2 sand and green sand moulding is essential. The candidate must be capable of performing foundry work, demonstrating processes and training local workers.

1. Must have practical experience in a heavy jobbing foundry, including mould preparation, core setting, pouring operations and quality control of heavy castings.
2. Should have experience manufacturing foundry components for heavy engineering and sugar machinery, such as rollers, trash plates, scraper plates, pumps and valves. Exposure to manganese steel and chromium steel castings and heat treatment is an advantage.
3. Must plan raw material requirements, including metal, alloys, sand and other consumables, for scheduled foundry jobs and production targets.
4. Must prepare job sheets and calculate casting/part weight, charge and material requirements, expected yield, actual casting weight and material consumed versus planned quantities.

Should be competent in production planning, moulding methods, melting and pouring coordination, process controls, inspection, defect prevention and safe foundry practices.

Must be able to work hands-on whenever required, demonstrate correct methods, and train, guide and supervise local foundry operators to ensure consistent workmanship and productivity.

Must be able to communicate in spoken English with workers, supervisors and management; fluency is not essential. Relocation to Uganda with family will be an advantage.

1. Shall be responsible for achieving foundry production targets, maintaining product quality, reducing rejection and metal losses, and ensuring safe operations.
2. Should be competent in foundry supervision, manpower management, raw material control, job costing and coordination with machining, maintenance and quality teams.

Preferred candidate profile

Education & Experience: Degree or Diploma in Production Technology, Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgy from a recognized institution ( ITI certificates, short-term courses or equivalent non-diploma qualifications are not acceptable ). relevant experience in a heavy jobbing foundry.
