Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) Associate

Job Description

Role Overview: The FLN Associate will play a crucial role in implementing and monitoring FLN interventions at the district and\or block level. The role involves working closely with teachers, school leaders, teacher mentors and government officials to enhance foundational learning outcomes for children. We see the FLN Associate role at CLR to be a highly aspirational role where the scope to learn about and create impact at a systemic level is immense. The FLN Associate will work with the Project Manager to play a critical leadership role in ensuring planning for and execution of the responsibilities listed below. They include but are not limited to: Key Responsibilities: Planning and Execution (30%) Work on planning/designing the overall project strategy in conjunction with the Project Manager Work with government stakeholders to design interventions that align with government needs as well as CLR s project design. Work with government teachers/teacher mentors for their development as per the project plan Execute the project strategy in coordination with government stakeholders at Blocks, Zilla Parishad and DIET, Ahilyanagar. Resource Development: (30%) Creating FLN contents for teacher and student, Contextualizing use of teaching-learning materials for improving FLN outcomes Creation of assessment tools to monitor progress on the FLN outcomes Assist in designing FLN capacity building session plans for officials, teacher mentors and teachers. Capacity Building: (20%) Conduct workshops for teachers, school heads, and government education officials on FLN pedagogy and assessment techniques. On-site support and co-work with the officers on building knowledge and outcome focussed interventions for FLN improvement. Documentation (10%) Creation of reports for stakeholders, funders and internal documentation Creating process documents, best practices documents and documentation required for communicating with Govt. Stakeholders. Monitoring & Evaluation (10%) Circulate tools to measure the effectiveness of ongoing projects and analyse the data Support team to analyze the data to provide ongoing insights to internal and external teams Support in data analysis and compiling project impact reports from impact data Support manager/M&E team to implement tools linked to created content based on requirements Qualifications & Experience: A Bachelors or Master s degree in Education is MUST OR Bachelors or Master s degree in Social Work, Development Studies, or a related field with very strong experience in working with teachers typically on pedagogy aspects is MUST. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in education-focused programs, preferably in FLN Prior experience in teacher & officer training, curriculum development, or school-level interventions is desirable. Familiarity with Maharashtra s education ecosystem and fluency in Marathi is highly preferred. Ability to work independently and travel extensively within the district/block. Basic proficiency in data analysis and reporting. Knowledge, Skills & Capabilities Strong facilitation skills to conduct engaging meetings and training sessions with government stakeholders Strong ability to create outstanding presentations, work with Microsoft Excel, Google Suite, and varied data sets Belief in the potential of the public sector and that government systems can and will change towards overcoming systemic inequities and ensuring improved outcomes for all citizens A basic understanding of social equity, development discourse and education policy in India Being able to take initiative and work in an autonomous, semi-structured environment Adaptability to changing responsibilities and resourcefulness to respond to them High openness to learning Ability to build and sustain relationships with multiple stakeholders & partners across public and private spaces Patience and resilience to stick it out in the face of setbacks and uncertainties. Excellent written and oral communication skills - and functional knowledge (oral and written) of Marathi would be highly preferred
