A teacher's job description includes many responsibilities, such as: Communication Teachers communicate new concepts to students, as well as with administrators, staff, and parents. Lesson plans Teachers create lesson plans that align with educational standards, and include learning objectives, activities, and resources. Classroom organization Teachers organize the classroom and learning materials, and organize learning activities according to students' abilities. Teaching best practices Teachers have a thorough knowledge of teaching best practices, including child development and education theories. Creative teaching Teachers use creativity and imagination to teach students in interesting ways. Curriculum development Teachers demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge, and take responsibility for professional development. Student attendance records Teachers maintain accurate records of student attendance and accidents or injuries. Other duties Teachers may also perform other job-related duties, such as marking student work and co-curricular activities.
