Job Summary
The Electrical Erection & Commissioning Engineer is responsible for planning, supervising, executing, testing, and commissioning electrical systems at project sites. The role ensures that all electrical installation activities are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise erection and installation of electrical equipment, panels, cables, transformers, motors, MCCs, PCCs, VFDs, and associated systems.
- Execute cable laying, cable tray installation, glanding, termination, and testing activities.
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, instrumentation, and client teams for smooth project execution.
- Ensure compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, and electrical standards.
- Carry out pre-commissioning and commissioning activities of electrical systems.
- Perform testing of transformers, motors, switchgear, cables, protection relays, and control circuits.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults during installation and commissioning.
- Prepare commissioning reports, inspection reports, test reports, and punch lists.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor work to ensure quality and timely completion.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and PPE requirements.
- Coordinate with vendors during equipment installation and commissioning.
- Maintain daily progress reports (DPR), material consumption records, and site documentation.
- Attend client meetings and provide technical support during project execution.
- Ensure timely completion of snag rectification and project handover activities.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
- Additional certifications in electrical safety or commissioning will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Electrical Erection Engineer: 2–6 years of relevant experience.
- Electrical Erection & Commissioning Engineer: 2–6 years of experience in industrial, power plant, water treatment, STP/WTP, or infrastructure projects.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of HT/LT electrical systems.
- Electrical panel erection and commissioning.
- Transformer and switchgear installation.
- Cable laying, glanding, and termination.
- Testing using insulation resistance tester, multimeter, earth tester, and other electrical instruments.
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, SLDs, GA drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Knowledge of electrical standards, IS codes, IEC standards, and safety regulations.
- Familiarity with PLC, SCADA, VFD, MCC, PCC, DG systems, and control panels.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office.
