Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own and develop aircraft-level electrical architecture for UAV and aerospace platforms, including power distribution, electrical interfaces, and system integration.
  • Define and manage electrical interfaces between avionics, flight control systems, propulsion systems, batteries/BMS, communication systems, navigation systems, payloads, and other aircraft subsystems.
  • Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs), electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, electrical interface specifications, and system architecture documentation.
  • Evaluate electrical systems for redundancy, fault tolerance, fail-safe operation, reliability, maintainability, and weight optimization.
  • Develop and manage electrical power budgets, power distribution networks, power conversion strategies, and electrical protection schemes.
  • Analyze electrical load requirements, startup and transient conditions, voltage drops, load shedding, and power system performance across various operating scenarios.
  • Lead the design and review of aircraft Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS), wiring harness architectures, harness routing, and cable management solutions.
  • Define wire, cable, connector, and harness component selection criteria based on electrical, environmental, mechanical, safety, and EMI/EMC requirements.
  • Review harness drawings, wiring diagrams, connector pinouts, wire lists, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Establish and implement standards for harness manufacturing, installation, inspection, testing, crimping, soldering, shielding, splicing, and termination practices.
  • Lead connector and electrical interface management activities, including connector selection, standardization, pin allocation, derating, and configuration control.
  • Define and implement EMI/EMC design practices related to grounding, bonding, shielding, filtering, cable segregation, and RF isolation.
  • Identify and resolve EMI/EMC issues during integration, qualification, ground testing, and flight testing activities.
  • Support qualification and certification activities in accordance with relevant aerospace and military standards.
  • Develop electrical integration, verification, and validation plans for aircraft and subsystem-level testing.
  • Perform and support electrical testing activities including continuity, insulation resistance, Hi-Pot, bonding, load, and communication interface testing.
  • Support aircraft integration, troubleshooting, failure investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Prepare and maintain electrical architecture documents, schematics, harness drawings, BOMs, wire lists, power budgets, test procedures, and verification reports.
  • Manage engineering documentation, configuration control, change management, and product lifecycle records.
  • Collaborate with Systems, Avionics, Flight Controls, Propulsion, Mechanical, Software, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Flight Test teams to ensure successful product development and integration.
  • Provide technical guidance to integration, manufacturing, testing, and supplier teams on electrical system implementation and troubleshooting.
Skills and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience in electrical system architecture, system integration, and electrical design for UAV, aerospace, defense, or complex embedded systems.
  • Experience in aircraft electrical power distribution systems, power budgeting, electrical load analysis, and power system integration.
  • Strong understanding of avionics, flight control systems, propulsion systems, batteries, BMS, ESCs, motors, communication systems, and aircraft electrical subsystems.
  • Hands-on experience in electrical wiring harness design, EWIS development, harness routing, cable sizing, wire selection, and connector integration.
  • Knowledge of connector selection, contact systems, backshells, shielding, grounding, bonding, and electrical interface management.
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, ICDs, wire lists, BOMs, and electrical design documentation.
  • Strong understanding of EMI/EMC principles, shielding techniques, grounding strategies, cable segregation, filtering, and RF isolation.
  • Experience supporting EMI/EMC qualification and environmental testing activities.
  • Knowledge of aerospace and military standards such as MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-810, IPC/WHMA-A-620, or equivalent standards.
  • Experience in electrical testing and verification including continuity testing, insulation resistance testing, Hi-Pot testing, grounding verification, load testing, and system integration testing.
  • Familiarity with electrical failure analysis, troubleshooting, root-cause investigation, and corrective action implementation.
  • Experience with PLM, configuration management, engineering change control, and product documentation management.
  • Ability to interpret and generate electrical interface specifications, architecture documents, and engineering standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external suppliers in a product development environment.
