Job Description

Dear Sir/ Madam,

Please find the attached below summary for job vacancy in Nelmangala Plant.

We are seeking a safety-first Electrical Maintenance Engineer / Technician (ITI & Diploma holders) specializing in industrial heating systems to join our furnace manufacturing unit. You will be responsible for ensuring maximum uptime of our induction/arc furnaces, high-power transformers, automated charging systems, and critical water-cooling loops while strictly adhering to high-voltage industrial safety protocols.

______________

Core Roles & Responsibilities

For ITI Candidates (Role: Furnace Maintenance Electrician / Technician)

  • Furnace Component Upkeep: Perform routine maintenance on furnace coils, busbars, high-current water-cooled cables, and capacitor banks.
  • Thermal & Sensor Calibration: Regularly inspect and replace high-temperature thermocouples, RTDs, infrared sensors, and proximity switches.
  • Refractory & Lining Support: Assist the mechanical team in monitoring furnace lining wear and maintaining patching/ramming equipment electrics.
  • Cooling Loop Maintenance: Monitor and maintain the electrical pumps, valves, and flow switches for the furnace’s critical water-cooling emergency systems.
  • Heavy Panel Dressing: Clean and inspect high-voltage control panels, Thyristor switchgears, and power distribution boards (DBs) for overheating.
  • High-Risk Safety (LOTO): Strictly apply Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) and wear arc-flash PPE before entering high-voltage furnace zones.

For Diploma Candidates (Role: Junior Furnace Maintenance Engineer / Supervisor)

  • HT / LT Power Distribution: Manage the operations of heavy-duty HT/LT substations, furnace transformers, Air Circuit Breakers (ACBs), and Vacuum Circuit Breakers (VCBs).
  • Automation & Thyristor Tuning: Troubleshoot and fine-tune PLC/SCADA control networks (Siemens, Rockwell, etc.) and Thyristor power controllers managing the furnace heating cycles.
  • Predictive & Preventive Maintenance: Draft and manage the daily, weekly, and monthly PM schedules specifically tailored for furnace power factor optimization (APFC panels) and harmonic filters.
  • Emergency Interlock Management: Ensure all safety interlocks (water flow, pressure, over-temperature trips, and earth-leakage relays) are fully operational and regularly tested.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Diagnose structural failures in furnace coils or power surges to continuously reduce MTTR (Mean Time to Repair) and optimize energy consumption.
  • Team & Logbook Supervision: Allocate tasks to a shift team of ITI technicians, maintain legal breakdown registers, and manage high-value electrical spares (thyristors, diodes, cards). ______________

Key Technical Competencies

  • For ITI Candidates:

o Proficient in using heavy insulation testers (Megger) to check furnace coil grounding.

o Sound knowledge of hydraulic/pneumatic valves linked to furnace tilting mechanisms.

o Expertise in industrial cable crimping and dealing with flexible copper braided wires.

  • For Diploma Candidates:

o Ability to interpret advanced multi-page Electrical Schematics and Control Circuit Blueprints.

o Deep understanding of PLC logic handling multi-zone temperature profiling and cooling loop automated loops.

o Power quality monitoring (handling harmonics, voltage dips, and maintaining a high Power Factor).

______________

Work Environment & Eligibility

  • Education:

o ITI in Electrician / Wireman / Power Electronics trade.

o Diploma (Polytechnic) in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics.

  • Experience: 1 to 5+ years of core maintenance experience in an induction furnace plant, foundry, steel melting shop (SMS), or glass manufacturing factory.
  • Physical Conditions: Must be comfortable working in a high-temperature, high-voltage, and fast-paced continuous manufacturing environment.
  • Licensing: Holding an Electrical Supervisor Permit / Workman Permit (Grade A) issued by the regional electrical licensing board is highly preferred.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month

Benefits:

  • Cell phone reimbursement
  • Health insurance
  • Leave encashment
  • Provident Fund
