Department: Laboratory Services Location: Dr. Kamini Rao Hospitals, Bangalore, Karnataka Reporting To: Lab In-Charge Employment Type: Full-time 1. Role Overview The Lab Technician will be responsible for conducting routine and specialized laboratory investigations, ensuring accuracy, quality control, timely reporting, and adherence to NABL/KPME guidelines. 2. Key Responsibilities A. Technical & Diagnostic Duties - Perform routine and advanced tests in Haematology, Biochemistry, Clinical Pathology, Serology, Microbiology, and Hormone Assays. - Collect, label, and process blood, urine, stool, semen, and swab samples. - Operate and maintain laboratory instruments such as analyzers and microscopes. - Ensure calibration, quality control, and maintenance logs for all equipment. - Prepare reagents, slides, and stains per laboratory standards. B. Quality & Compliance - Maintain adherence to NABL standards, KPME, PCPNDT, and internal SOPs. - Follow biosafety standards and reduce analytical errors. - Ensure documentation, record keeping, and LIS/HMIS data entry. - Maintain sample storage and biomedical waste protocols. C. Reporting & Coordination - Ensure timely reporting of test results. - Escalate critical values immediately. - Coordinate with departments for urgent samples. - Support inventory, audits, and daily operations. D. Inventory & Materials Management - Maintain stock of reagents and consumables. - Track lot numbers, expiry dates, and avoid stock-outs. E. Patient Care & Communication - Interact politely with patients for sample collection. - Ensure patient comfort and infection control. 3. Skills & Competencies - Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment handling. - Strong diagnostic accuracy and pathology knowledge. - Good communication skills and ethical conduct. 4. Qualifications & Experience - DMLT / BMLT / MLT certification. - 1–3 years of pathology lab experience. - IVF hormonal testing experience preferred. - Knowledge of LIS/HMIS systems. 5. Work Schedule - Rotational shifts, weekends/holidays as required. 6. Additional Requirements - Maintain confidentiality and data protection. - Participate in trainings and CME programs. - Performance based on accuracy, TAT, and discipline.
