Position Overview We are seeking an independent researcher and publishing specialist with a proven track record of successfully publishing in Cabell’s Journalistic-listed journals or ABDC listed journals. The ideal candidate will have personally published peer-reviewed articles, and/or supported faculty and researchers through the full publishing pipeline, including journal selection, submission, responding to reviewer feedback, and resubmission. Candidates must show evidence of work on accepted and published articles, not just submissions. Publications in outlets flagged by Cabell’s Predatory Reports will not be recognized. This role requires a professional who can operate independently while collaborating with research teams. The successful candidate will bring both hands-on publishing experience and the ability to even coach others in navigating the often-complex process of academic publishing. A high standard of confidentiality and discretion is essential, particularly in cases of ghost-writing or assisting teams through the publishing process. Key Responsibilities • Personally conduct or support research projects conduct primary and secondary research all the way through to the publication in Cabell’s Journalistic-listed journals. • Provide expertise in writing, revising, and formatting manuscripts for peer-reviewed submission and if rejected from journals help in selecting new journals to publish in. • Guide researchers teams through the entire publishing pipeline, including journal selection, submission, revision, and resubmission. • Ghostwrite and or co-develop research articles, ensuring all work meets the standards of credible, peer-reviewed scholarship. • Avoid predatory publishing and ensure compliance with recognized quality publication outlets. • Be able to generate high quality reports and articles to practitioner publication outlets like Stanford Social Innovation, HBR and others Qualifications • Documented experience with accepted and published articles in Cabell’s Journalistic-listed journals (personal authorship, co-authorship, and or even proof of ghost-writing accepted). • Demonstrated ability to mentor or assist faculty and researchers through the publishing process. • Strong academic writing and editing skills with attention to journal-specific requirements. • Knowledge of peer review systems, journal rankings, and publishing best practices. • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality outputs to deadlines. • Commitment to confidentiality and discretion in all research and publishing activities. Preferred Qualifications • Experience ghost-writing or co-authoring across multiple disciplines listed in Cabell’s journalistic and a track record of guiding successful grant or funding applications. • Experience working directly with faculty, research teams, or academic institutions. • Familiarity with common indexing systems (ABDC, FT50, ABS, Scopus, SSCI) in addition to Cabell’s Journalistic.
