Overview

A well-known law firm is looking to hire an Associate for its Direct Tax practice at its Mumbai office. The role will primarily focus on direct tax advisory and transactional matters.

Detailed Role Description

The candidate will be involved in providing direct tax advisory support and assisting on tax-related transactional assignments. The role offers exposure to corporate tax advisory, transaction structuring and other aspects of direct taxation.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in providing advisory on various direct tax matters.
• Work on tax structuring and transactional assignments.
• Assist with direct tax implications arising from mergers, acquisitions, restructurings and other corporate transactions.
• Conduct legal and tax research and prepare detailed advisory notes and opinions.
• Analyse tax provisions and their applicability to various business transactions.
• Work closely with internal teams and clients on advisory and transactional matters.

Candidate Profile

• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or CA with an LL.B. degree.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience in Direct Tax.
• Candidates from Big 4 firms are welcome to apply.
• Strong exposure to direct tax advisory and transactional work is preferred.
• Excellent analytical, research and drafting skills.
• Candidates with a litigation or compliance-focused background are not being considered for this role.
