Job Description

Overview: As a Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in SolidWorks and sheet metal design, you will be responsible for developing and detailing mechanical components and assemblies, particularly those involving sheet metal fabrication. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including production, procurement, and quality assurance to ensure manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and performance of the designed components. Key Responsibilities: 3D Modeling and Drafting: Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks or other CAD software Develop accurate fabrication drawings with GD&T and standard tolerances. Sheet Metal Design: Design sheet metal components and assemblies adhering to manufacturing constraints (bending, punching, welding, laser cutting, etc.). Use SolidWorks Sheet Metal tools effectively for flattening, bend allowances, and feature development. Product Development: Participate in the full product development lifecycle from concept to production. Work on product improvement initiatives to reduce cost, improve performance, and enhance manufacturability. Documentation: Generate Bill of Materials (BOM), assembly instructions, and technical documentation. Maintain design revisions and configuration control. Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are production-ready. Liaise with vendors and suppliers for component feasibility and prototyping. Design Validation and Testing: Support testing and troubleshooting of prototypes. Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement process improvements to increase design efficiency and reduce development time.
