Database Expert

Role & responsibilities

• Design and implement database schemas, tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures.
• Develop and optimize complex SQL queries and PL/pgSQL functions.
• Perform database performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and query optimization.
• Implement database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Configure and manage database replication, clustering, and high availability.
• Ensure database security, access controls, and data integrity.
• Work closely with application developers and solution architects for database design and integration.
• Support database migration, ETL processes, and data synchronization.
• Monitor database health, capacity, and resource utilization.
• Prepare database documentation and operational procedures.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL database administration and development.
• Proficiency in SQL and PL/pgSQL programming.
• Good understanding of database architecture, schema design, indexing, and partitioning.
• Experience in query execution plans, performance tuning, and optimization.
• Knowledge of stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
• Understanding of database backup, recovery, and replication mechanisms.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL high availability and disaster recovery concepts.
• Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.
• Understanding of database security, roles, privileges, and access management.
• Knowledge of data modeling and ETL processes.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of PostgreSQL automation and monitoring tools.
• Exposure to PostgreSQL replication and clustering solutions such as Patroni.
• Knowledge of connection pooling tools such as PgBouncer.
• Exposure to database migration, version upgrades, and large-volume data handling.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and database CI/CD automation.
