Job Summary: As a Project Controls Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the successful execution of construction projects within airport terminal buildings. Your responsibility will involve implementing and maintaining effective project control processes, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Your expertise in project scheduling, cost control, and risk management will be fundamental in achieving project success. Key Responsibilities: Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using industry-standard software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) to ensure efficient resource allocation and sequencing of tasks. Monitor progress, identify potential delays, and propose mitigation strategies to keep the project on track. Collaborate with the Project Manager and other stakeholders to establish realistic project milestones and deadlines. Cost Control and Budget Management: Work closely with the finance team to develop project budgets and cost estimates, ensuring alignment with project objectives. Track project expenses, review invoices, and implement cost control measures to prevent budget overruns. Prepare and present regular cost reports to project stakeholders. Risk Management: Identify project risks and uncertainties and develop risk mitigation plans. Conduct risk assessments and implement strategies to minimise potential disruptions to project timelines and budgets. Continuously monitor and update the risk register throughout the project lifecycle. Document Control: Maintain accurate and organised project documentation, including contracts, drawings, specifications, change orders, and correspondence. Ensure that all project-related documents are up-to-date and easily accessible to the project team. Communication and Reporting: Facilitate regular project status meetings, providing comprehensive updates on project progress, challenges, and potential issues. Collaborate with project team members to collect data, prepare reports, and communicate project performance to key stakeholders. Quality Assurance: Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications. Participate in quality audits and inspections to verify that work is being performed in accordance with established requirements. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement within the project controls function and contribute to the development of best practices. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance project control capabilities. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Proven experience as a Project Controls Engineer, preferably in MEP with exposure to Construction Projects. Proficiency in project management software (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results. Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and codes in construction. Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification is a plus. Physical Requirements: Ability to work on construction sites and in an office environment. Currie & Brown is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Construction Quantity Surveyor for our client location in Manassas, Virginia. As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will serve as the right-hand to the lead quantity surveyor, playing a key role in overseeing cost management, estimation, and procurement. These functions should be performed while ensuring that they are completed within budget and to the highest standards, achieving successful outcomes for our clients, capturing, and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation, and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider. A comprehensive understanding of the United States construction market, particularly within the industrial and high-tech sectors, is essential. Responsibilities will include: Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Prepare initial cost estimates based on project plans and specifications. Develop detailed budgets and forecasts for construction projects. Monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure adherence to the allocated budget. Contract Management: Draft, review, and manage construction contracts. Ensure compliance with all contractual terms and conditions. Handle variations and changes to the project scope and manage associated costs. Tendering and Procurement: Prepare tender documents, including bills of quantities and other pricing schedules. The Director is responsible for advising clients and finding cutting-edge solutions for their most challenging and highest priority multi-million-dollar construction projects, while championing and building the Currie Brown company brand. The Director is tasked with hands-on quantity surveying and cost management for our clients, including capital planning, project delivery strategy and execution planning, capital cost and operations cost estimating, value engineering services, planning and scheduling controls, contract pricing formats, procurement management, bid evaluation and documentation, contract administration, comprehensive cost management, and risk assessment. Specific responsibilities include: Participating in business development and management of new projects for quantity surveying and cost management; Providing trusted and reasoned advice on complex matters to our client, and to know when to escalate to superiors; Supporting RFP responses, forecasting resources needed for proposals, preparation of proposals and leading negotiations; Supporting client account management, monthly invoicing, purchase order management and reviewing contractual terms; Preparing and leading project cost estimates from conceptual through various stages of design using experience, historical data, and parametric ratios; Establishing new and maintaining existing estimating tools, methods and databases used to produce project estimates; Participating in industry benchmarking of project metrics; Providing cost forecasting and cost control and management of contingencies and regular reporting services to stakeholders including presentations; Reviewing change orders and claims, including review and recommendation of entitlements in accordance with the contractual terms and conditions; and Building time into the working day to actively support or mentor more junior staff REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree (or foreign equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field of study, and fifteen (15) years of experience in any occupation in which the required experience was gained.
