Job Description: Field Investigator (FI) – Kamrup, Assam Project: Future LEARNS 2025 Organization: NITI Aayog, Centre of Excellence in Teacher Education (CETE), Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Job Title: Field Investigator (FI) Location: Darrang District, Assam Nature of Job: Short-term contractual fieldwork (April–May 2025) involving primary data collection in: Anganwadis (standalone/co-located with schools) Preschools & Primary Schools (Grades 1–3, Govt./Private/Aided) Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) (DIETs, private DEIEd colleges, Anganwadi training centres) Key Responsibilities: Data Collection & Tools Administration: Administer 7 tools (hardcopy + digital) to: Teachers/Head Teachers : Teacher Questionnaire (Tool 3), Teacher Interview (Tool 9), Classroom Observation (Tool 12). Anganwadi Workers : Same tools as above (if standalone). TEIs : Teacher Educator Questionnaire (Tool 5), Student-Teacher Digital Form (Tool 6). Ensure consent forms are signed and audio recordings (where applicable) are properly documented. Field Protocols: Follow the Typical Visit Plan (PPT Slide 11): Schools : Meet Headmaster → Distribute Teacher Questionnaires → Conduct Classroom Observation → Interview Observed Teacher. TEIs : Coordinate with State Lead to distribute digital forms to student-teachers. Digitize data daily or within 48 hours (Google Forms/Sheets). Coordination: Work under the Assam State Lead and submit daily progress updates. Liaise with local authorities (Block Education Office/Anganwadi supervisors) for site access. Logistics: Carry Field Work Kit Hard copies of tools, consent forms, and permission letters. Notebook for field notes, and digital backups of tools. Qualifications & Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or related fields . B.Ed./M.Ed./Diploma in ECCE candidates preferred. Experience: Prior fieldwork (education/social sectors) or research experience. Familiarity with NEP 2020’s Foundational Stage (ages 3–8) and ECCE institutions . Skills: Fluency in Assamese (mandatory) and working knowledge of English/Hindi . Proficiency in using Google Forms/Sheets for digitization. Logistics: Must have a two-wheeler (travel reimbursed at ₹500/day). Willingness to travel to remote rural areas (e.g., Darrang’s LPAP blocks). Desirable Qualification: A Graduate or a Post Graduate in any discipline; At least 2-3 years of professional experience in working in rural areas. Experience in rural women livelihood development, financial literacy and education with Self Help Groups (SHGs), Farmers Producers Companies (FPCs), Farmers Producers Organisations (FPOs) etc. Good writing and communication skills in Assamese and working knowledge of English. Role of Project Coordinator Map and identify rural women livelihood clusters (in handloom, handicrafts, livestock, agriculture, food processing and others.
