Role Overview:

Consultant Neonatologist

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive medical care to newborns, including premature, low-birth-weight and critically ill neonates.
• Manage neonatal emergencies, including respiratory distress, neonatal sepsis, birth asphyxia, jaundice and other neonatal complications.
• Assess newborns at birth and provide neonatal resuscitation as required.
• Supervise and manage neonatal intensive care and special newborn care services, as per the hospital's available infrastructure and clinical protocols.
• Monitor neonates requiring respiratory support, including CPAP and mechanical ventilation, wherever available.
• Coordinate with obstetricians, gynaecologists, paediatricians, nursing teams and other specialists for high-risk deliveries and neonatal care.
• Develop and implement clinical protocols, infection-control practices and patient-safety standards for neonatal services.
• Ensure accurate clinical documentation, treatment plans, discharge summaries and follow-up recommendations.
• Counsel parents and family members regarding the newborn's condition, treatment plan, prognosis and preventive care.
• Guide and supervise neonatal nursing staff and other clinical team members.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality-improvement initiatives and morbidity reviews.
• Support the development of neonatal services, operational readiness and clinical protocols ahead of the hospital's opening.
• Ensure compliance with applicable medical regulations, hospital policies and ethical standards.

Desired Qualification and Experience:

• MBBS with DM / DrNB in Neonatology.
• Valid medical registration and relevant experience in neonatal intensive care.
• Expertise in managing premature, high-risk and critically ill newborns.
• Strong clinical judgement, communication and teamwork skills.
