As a Health and Safety Officer at City Facilities Management (UK) Ltd and City Facilities Management (Distribution) Ltd, your primary responsibility will be to assist in managing and delivering an effective Corporate Health and Safety service. This is crucial in ensuring that our organization meets its statutory responsibilities and provides safe working environments for employees, clients, and all individuals affected by our operations at retail, distribution, and office sites across the South of England and South Wales. Occasional travel to the Glasgow Head Office will be required. Your key accountabilities will include formulating and developing health and safety systems, procedures, and practices. You will be tasked with reviewing procedures to align with current and new legislation, Codes of Practice, and Guidance. Monitoring policy and plans, conducting accident and incident investigations, and promoting continuous improvements will also be part of your responsibilities. In addition, you will be involved in assisting and developing audit and risk management procedures relevant to all activities and properties of CFM. Regular safety audits will be conducted to ensure the effectiveness of systems, and you will provide advice and support to Directors, Senior Managers, and Employees on health and safety matters, along with environmental issues when necessary. Representing the Health and Safety Section at Divisional management/advisory meetings and external bodies, as directed, will be a key aspect of your role. Identifying training needs in consultation with departments, creating necessary courses, and delivering health and safety training programs will also be within your scope of work. Collaboration with other senior officers of the Company to maintain a corporate approach to management and execution of CFM's affairs is essential. You will work towards the effective implementation of policies and programs, ensuring resources are efficiently deployed for this purpose. Furthermore, your responsibilities will include undertaking Risk Assessments, preparing written safe systems of work, liaising with Enforcement agencies and ASDA Regional Compliance Team as required, and providing support on various initiatives across the City group of companies. This position requires a high degree of flexibility in working hours, mobility throughout the designated area, occasional overnight stays away from home, and personal fitness to handle tasks such as climbing ladders. A minimum of one year post-qualification experience in a full-time Health & Safety role is necessary for this role. The successful candidate should be able to work independently within company policies and procedures at various locations. This hands-on Engineering role is ideal for individuals with a background in Refrigeration Engineering. However, full training can be provided to candidates with an Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC background seeking a career change. Responsibilities include working in a team primarily in a retail environment on commercial Refrigeration and Air Conditioning equipment such as central plant, Integral systems, Alarm panels, and leak detection systems. The ideal candidate must possess a full driving license and a flexible attitude to meet Maintenance requirements as per pre-planned schedules. Key Accountabilities include delivering planned and reactive refrigeration maintenance works across multiple sites, identifying and resolving repair, maintenance, and installation issues, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, updating systems accurately, and representing the company professionally while fostering strong relationships with colleagues and clients.
