Cisco_110_Junior Test Automation Engineer (Python/JavaScript) with CI/CD focus

Position Requirements

In this role, you will strengthen our test automation and CI/CD capabilities, maintaining GitLab pipelines, investigating failures, and developing automated tests in Python/JavaScript under senior guidance. You’ll help keep delivery fast and reliable, gradually expanding your ownership of CI infrastructure and gaining hands-on experience with modern tooling and quality engineering practices. Responsibilities • Maintain and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines in GitLab to ensure reliable, efficient, and timely delivery workflows in collaboration with senior engineers and the broader product team • Investigate and report on pipeline and test failures, analyzing logs and results in GitLab to improve build stability and overall product quality • Collaborate with senior team members and other stakeholders by communicating pipeline status, test outcomes, and identified issues to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement • Write automated test cases using Cypress or pytest, integrating them into GitLab pipelines to expand test coverage and increase validation efficiency • Execute functional, smoke, and regression testing on the product, using Cypress or pytest where applicable to validate features, detect defects, and support release readiness • Support CI infrastructure under the guidance of senior engineers, assisting with configuration, monitoring, and basic maintenance activities in GitLab • Escalate pipeline duration or stability issues to senior team members, providing clear, structured information to enable timely troubleshooting and optimization • Document pipeline incidents, test failures, and resolutions within GitLab or team-approved tracking tools to support knowledge sharing and recurring issue prevention

Requirements • Strong experience with test automation or CI/CD tooling, with 1.5–2 years of hands-on work in relevant environments • Practical experience with at least one CI/CD platform, with strong familiarity with GitLab CI or similar systems • Basic programming and scripting skills in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript, with readiness to grow into more advanced test automation tasks • Hands-on experience writing automated tests using Cypress and/or pytest for web and API testing, with any exposure to Selenium considered beneficial • Solid understanding of core software testing types, including smoke, regression, and functional testing, and their application in automation scenarios • Strong eagerness to learn CI infrastructure, DevOps practices, and modern automation tooling in a fast-paced engineering environment • Collaborative working style with the ability to contribute to cross-functional teams and share knowledge openly • Proactive and learning-oriented mindset, with openness to feedback and continuous improvement in technical and professional skills • Clear and respectful communication skills, with the ability to explain issues, share progress, and align with team members and stakeholders • Basic knowledge of Docker or containerization concepts for building and running automated test environments (nice-to-have) • Familiarity with Git workflows and code review practices, including branching, pull/merge requests, and peer review processes (nice-to-have)
