About This Role The Director – Business Development and Sustainability is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing a diversified, forward-looking, and sustainable resource mobilization strategy. The role leads efforts across institutional donors, corporate partnerships, individual giving, digital fundraising, and innovative financing. As part of the Senior Management Team (SMT), the Director provides strategic leadership to position ChildFund as a preferred partner for donors, corporations, and philanthropists committed to child rights and sustainable development. Required Experience and Education Master’s degree preferred (or Bachelor’s with extensive experience) in Business Development, Fundraising, Sales & Marketing, or related fields. Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in business development, fundraising, donor engagement, resource mobilization, or private sector sales & marketing. Proven track record of securing large-scale CSR and institutional grants. Demonstrated success in corporate partnerships, private sector engagement, and individual giving programs. Solid understanding of India’s development funding landscape, CSR regulations, and blended financing trends. Proficiency in Salesforce CRM, Microsoft Office, proposal budgeting, and donor systems. Fluency in English; Additional regional languages is an advantage. Primary Responsibilities Lead the design and implementation of a multi-channel resource mobilization strategy. Drive diversification of funding through institutional grants, CSR partnerships, and individual giving programs. Cultivate high-level relationships with donors, corporate leaders, foundations, and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs). Represent ChildFund in donor forums and resource mobilization alliances at national and international levels. Oversee business development processes including opportunity scanning, proposal writing, budgeting, and submission. Mentor and strengthen a high-performing business development team. Promote ethical fundraising, donor compliance, and alignment with ChildFund’s mission. Support emergency fundraising during crisis. Project Background The Government of Jharkhand, through the Department of Women and Child Development (WCD), in collaboration with ChildFund India, is committed to strengthening child protection systems to address the growing risks of Online Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OAEC). With increasing internet penetration, children are highly vulnerable to online risks, necessitating comprehensive strategies, capacity-building, and scalable models to safeguard them. ChildFund India has successfully demonstrated the Web Safe and Wise model in other states and now aims to scale up the initiative in Jharkhand. To support this, a dedicated consultant will be engaged to provide technical expertise, strengthen coordination with WCD, and ensure effective implementation at the state. About This Role Senior Consultant has to provide technical guidance, strategic support, and coordination assistance to WCD in coordination with ChildFund India for scaling up the Web Safe and Wise model in Jharkhand, with a focus on prevention, detection, and response to online abuse and exploitation of children(OAEC). Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the safeguarding policy and procedures and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with ChildFund’s Safeguarding Policy. Required Experience and Education Postgraduate degree in Social Work, Child Protection, Public Policy, Development Studies, or related field. Minimum 6–7 years of experience in child protection, preferably with a focus on online safety and OAEC. Strong knowledge of child rights frameworks, government systems, and child protection mechanisms in India. Proven experience in policy development, training, and capacity-building at state or national level. Demonstrated ability to coordinate with government departments, NGOs, and multi-stakeholder platforms. Excellent research, analytical, communication, and report-writing skills. Primary Responsibilities The Consultant will work closely with WCD, Jharkhand and ChildFund India to: Develop comprehensive strategies, roadmaps, guidelines, and SOPs for addressing OEAC at the state level. Provide technical support to WCD in scaling up the Web Safe and Wise model. Conduct research and analysis to identify best practices, trends, and innovative solutions for online child protection. Facilitate capacity-building programs for stakeholders (government officials, educators, child protection functionaries, CSOs, etc.) on OEAC prevention, detection, and response. Design and develop, and contextualize educational materials, training modules, toolkits, and awareness resources to enhance understanding of OEAC among diverse stakeholders. Liaise with government departments, NGOs, and other partners to strengthen collaboration and coordination mechanisms. Monitor and evaluate implementation progress, ensuring alignment with project objectives and measuring outcomes. Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, along with recommendations and updates to WCD and ChildFund India. Provide strategic guidance to ChildFund India on emerging risks, opportunities for policy influence, fundraising, and programmatic expansion. Undertake any additional tasks assigned by the Thematic Specialist and Specialist–Programs. Deliverables The Consultant is expected to deliver: A state-level strategy and roadmap for OAEC prevention and response in consultation with WCD and collaboration with other govt. departments. Guidelines and SOPs for WCD and key stakeholders. Support WCD and other line departments to execute the strategy and roadmap in the state. Training modules, toolkits, and awareness resources on OAEC. Capacity-building workshops, consultation conducted for key stakeholders. Regular progress reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) with analysis and recommendations. A final completion report summarizing achievements, challenges, and way forward.
