Job Description – MIG Welder Position Title: MIG Welder Department: Production / Weldshop Reporting To: Supervisor / Production In-charge Job Purpose To carry out MIG welding operations as per drawings and work instructions, ensuring quality, safety, and productivity standards are met. Key Responsibilities Perform MIG welding on metal sheet components as per specifications. Set up welding machines, select appropriate welding parameters, wires, and gas . Ensure proper fit-up, alignment, and finishing of welded components. Carry out visual inspection of welds to ensure quality standards. Rectify welding defects such as porosity, undercut, spatter, and cracks. Follow safety procedures , including usage of PPE like helmet, gloves, apron, etc. Maintain housekeeping in the welding area (5S). Coordinate with supervisors and quality team for inspection and corrections. Ensure proper handling of tools, fixtures, and welding equipment . Meet daily production targets as per plan. Quality & Safety Responsibilities Adhere to quality standards and welding procedures. Follow EHS guidelines and plant safety rules at all times. Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or defects immediately. Skills & Competencies Good knowledge of MIG welding techniques . Ability to handle welding machines independently. Understanding of welding defects and corrective actions. Basic knowledge of fabrication processes. Ability to work in shifts and meet production deadlines. Qualification & Experience ITI / Diploma / 8th–10th pass with relevant welding experience. 1–5 years of experience in MIG welding (manufacturing / fabrication industry preferred). Physical Requirements Ability to stand for long hours. Good hand-eye coordination. Physically fit to handle welding operations.
