AWS Platform Architect

Responsibilities

• Design and own the end-to-end AWS platform architecture, including compute, storage, networking, identity, security, and data services.
• Define and implement Infrastructure as Code standards and blueprints using tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform.
• Establish platform operational model: CI/CD pipelines, release automation, observability, and incident response practices.
• Drive cloud security and compliance by designing identity and access management, encryption, logging, and monitoring strategies.
• Optimize platform cost, performance, and reliability through capacity planning, right-sizing, and architectural best practices.
• Collaborate with development, SRE, and security teams to onboard services and ensure consistent patterns for microservices and serverless deployments.
• Develop and maintain reusable platform components, reference architectures, and internal documentation to accelerate engineering velocity.
• Mentor engineers on cloud design principles, operational excellence, and automation techniques.
• Evaluate new AWS services and third-party tools; lead pilot projects and roadmap adoption for platform evolution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Extensive hands-on experience architecting and operating production workloads on AWS.
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation using CloudFormation and Terraform.
• Strong knowledge of networking, identity and access management, security controls, and data services on AWS.
• Experience with container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
• Familiarity with observability tooling, incident management, and production support practices.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer are a plus.
