Job Summary
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Assistant Manager – Procurement to manage end-to-end procurement activities for our metal manufacturing operations. The candidate should have experience in raw material sourcing, vendor development, price negotiation, purchase planning, import procurement and inventory coordination, preferably in the metal industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end procurement of raw materials, consumables, machinery spares and other operational requirements.
- Source and procure metals such as Copper, Aluminium, Lead, Steel and other alloys.
- Identify, evaluate and develop reliable domestic and international suppliers.
- Handle overseas sourcing, import procurement and supplier coordination.
- Conduct market research and monitor metal price trends to identify cost-effective purchasing opportunities.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules and commercial conditions with suppliers.
- Prepare comparative statements, purchase orders and procurement cost sheets.
- Coordinate with suppliers, logistics teams, finance and internal departments to ensure timely material delivery.
- Monitor purchase orders, pending deliveries and supplier performance.
- Coordinate import documentation, CHA, BOE and customs clearance wherever required.
- Monitor e-auction platforms, participate in relevant auctions and coordinate material procurement.
- Ensure procurement activities are carried out within approved budgets and company policies.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and maintain effective vendor relationships.
- Maintain proper purchase records, MIS reports and procurement documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline.
- 5–8 years of experience in Purchase / Procurement, preferably in the metal or manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of raw material procurement and vendor management.
- Experience in domestic and international sourcing.
- Excellent negotiation and commercial skills.
- Knowledge of import procedures, logistics and customs documentation.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical, coordination and decision-making skills.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Candidates with experience in Copper, Aluminium, Lead, Steel or Metal manufacturing industries.
- Experience in overseas procurement and international supplier negotiations.
- Knowledge of metal market trends, e-auctions and cost optimisation.
- Ability to independently manage procurement activities and vendor relationships.
