Overall Purpose of The Job

The Associate Emission Analyst is a supervised delivery role within Njord's Compliance team, positioned as a structured development step between the Assistant Emission Analyst and the Emission Analyst. This role supports the delivery of one compliance product for a designated vessel set under the guidance of the Senior Emission Analyst, while actively building the domain knowledge, data skills, and regulatory literacy required to progress to independent delivery. The role is expected to take ownership of defined, repeatable compliance tasks and develop the capability to manage a full product portfolio at the Emission Analyst level over time.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks
  • Support the delivery of one designated compliance product (e.g. CII reporting or EU MRV) for an assigned vessel set under the supervision of the Senior Emission Analyst.
  • Perform data integrity monitoring of extracted vessel data — generate error summaries and communicate with vessels to obtain corrections.
  • Collect and organise supporting documents and evidence required for compliance submissions.
  • Follow up with vessels to obtain required data and documentation within agreed timelines.
  • Maintain vessel folders, upkeep daily trackers, and record work status against enrolled vessels.
  • Prepare basic compliance reports and summaries as directed by the Senior Emission Analyst.
  • Support the preparation of ad hoc reports based on requirements from the Senior Emission Analyst or Fleet Emissions Manager.
  • Participate in team knowledge-sharing sessions and actively develop understanding of applicable compliance frameworks.
  • Escalate data issues and regulatory queries to the Senior Emission Analyst promptly and clearly, with sufficient context for resolution.

What can I expect in return?
V. Group can offer you a market leading salary and benefits package, in addition to significant opportunities for career growth and personal development. This a great opportunity to join a true leader in the maritime sector - a company that has exciting plans for future growth.

Essential

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Maritime Studies, or a related technical or science discipline.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a maritime, compliance, or data-related role within the shipping or maritime services industry.
  • Basic familiarity with at least one compliance framework — CII, EU MRV, IMO DCS, or EU ETS — acquired through work experience or self-directed study.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Data handling capability — proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard office tools; comfortable identifying anomalies and organising structured data sets.
  • Marine domain awareness — basic understanding of vessel operations and the commercial and technical context of shipping sufficient to make sense of compliance data.

Desirable
  • Any exposure to compliance platforms, class society portals, or vessel reporting systems.
  • Interest in developing Python or SQL skills for data handling tasks.
  • Willingness to rotate across compliance products as the team grows and coverage requirements evolve.
  • Self-motivated approach to regulatory learning — proactively building knowledge of CII, EU ETS, MRV, and FuelEU Maritime beyond the immediate assigned product
