Assistant Professor – Fashion Technology

Job Summary

The Assistant Professor (Fashion Technology) is responsible for teaching fashion and apparel-related courses, handling studio and lab sessions, mentoring students in design and production, and contributing to academic planning and industry-oriented activities in line with UGC and affiliating university norms.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach UG Fashion Technology courses as per university syllabus.
• Prepare lesson plans, course files, design briefs, and assessment materials.
• Handle theory and practical sessions in areas such as Garment Construction, Textile Science, Pattern Making, Fashion Illustration, Apparel Production, and Merchandising.
• Supervise studio work, labs, and ensure safety and equipment maintenance.
• Guide students in design projects, portfolios, fashion shows, and exhibitions.
• Coordinate industrial visits, internships, and industry interactions.
• Encourage participation in fashion competitions, workshops, and seminars.
• Contribute to research, innovation, and academic enrichment activities.
• Maintain academic records and support NAAC/IQAC documentation.
• Participate in departmental and institutional committees.

Qualifications

• B.Tech / M.Tech / M.Sc / M.Des in Fashion Technology / Fashion Design / Textile Technology or related discipline (Mandatory)
• NET/SET or Ph.D. as per UGC norms (where applicable)
• Teaching or industry experience preferred

Skills Required

• Strong knowledge of fashion design, textiles, and apparel production
• Proficiency in pattern making, garment construction, and illustration
• Working knowledge of fashion CAD software (e.g., CorelDRAW, Illustrator, CLO, etc.)
• Effective studio teaching and student mentoring skills
• Industry exposure and trend awareness
• Academic planning and documentation abilities
