The role demands strong ownership, aggressive follow-ups, ERP discipline, and zero tolerance for missed PD timelines . This position directly impacts buyer confidence, development hit-rate, and bulk conversion . KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Product Development & Sampling (Core Ownership) · Handle end-to-end product development across handmade rugs & carpets, bath, bedding, cushions, pillows, furniture & home décor. · Interpret buyer briefs into clear, actionable PD instructions covering construction, materials, finish, costing intent, and timelines. · Coordinate sampling, re-sampling, and revisions , R&D without delays. · Ensure all developments are production-feasible , cost-aligned, and scalable. 2. PD Release & Timeline Control (NON-NEGOTIABLE) · Drive on-time PD release post approvals; no development to remain open-ended. · Maintain strict PD TNA discipline and close all pending points before release. · Proactively escalate risks related to material, process, cost, or timelines. 3. Buyer Communication & Aggressive Follow-ups · Handle clear, professional, and prompt email communication with buyers. · Follow up aggressively with design, sampling, sourcing, QA, and vendors . · Share structured updates , approvals status, and next actions. 4. ERP & Documentation Discipline (MANDATORY / TRAINING) · Enter and update all PD activities in ERP in real time. · No PD activity to be executed outside ERP or without documentation. 5. Costing & Commercial Alignment · Coordinate development costing with R&D team. · Highlight cost risks early and suggest value engineering options . · Ensure PDs are aligned to buyer target prices and margins. 6. Quality, Compliance & Handmade Sensitivity · Ensure PD samples meet quality standards, construction specs, and tolerance levels . · Understand handmade variability and communicate realistic call-outs. · Align PDs with testing, compliance, and durability requirements . 7. Cross-Functional Coordination · Work closely with PPC, QA, Production, Sampling, and Vendors . · Maintain PD trackers , follow escalation matrix, and ensure closure. PERFORMANCE KPIs (STRICTLY TRACKED) · On-time PD release % (Target ≥ 95%) · Sampling turnaround time adherence · Buyer feedback on communication & responsiveness · ERP accuracy & real-time updates · Development-to-bulk conversion ratio NON-NEGOTIABLE EXPECTATIONS · No missed PD timelines without prior escalation · No undocumented developments · No delayed follow-ups · Ownership until PD closure REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE · 2–3 years of PD / Merchandising experience in export home textiles manufacturing . · Strong exposure to handmade rugs, carpets, bath, bedding, cushions, pillows, or furniture . · ERP savvy with hands-on PD module usage. (Training will be facilitated otherwise) · Strong communication skills. · Excellent written communication & follow-up skills. · Strong planning, prioritization, and pressure-handling ability.
