AREA MANAGER PUMP SERVICE (CONCRETE LINE & BOOM PUMPS)

1. JOB PURPOSE

Overview:

The Pump Service Area Manager is responsible for leading the service operations for concrete line pumps and boom pumps within the assigned territory. The role ensures safe, timely and high-quality service delivery, strong customer satisfaction, disciplined field execution, effective team leadership, and achievement of service KPIs and revenue targets (service labour, AMCs, breakdown support, and spares facilitation).

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Service Operations & Field Execution

• Own end-to-end service delivery for breakdowns, preventive maintenance and commissioning activities within the area.
• Ensure adherence to standard troubleshooting practices for hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems of concrete pumps.
• Drive improvements in MTTR, first-time-fix rate, uptime and repeat failure reduction through structured root-cause analysis.
• Ensure proper handover and close-out documentation for every job (service reports, checklists, trial/commissioning notes).

B. Team Leadership & Capability Building (Minimum 3 Years Leadership Expected)

• Lead, coach and monitor Service Engineers/Technicians in the region; allocate jobs, balance workload and ensure response discipline.
• Conduct on-the-job training, tool-box talks and refresher sessions on safety, diagnostics, and customer handling.
• Monitor discipline, attendance, travel planning and productivity of the field team.

C. Customer Management & Escalation Handling

• Act as the first point of escalation for critical customer issues; manage communication, commitments and closures.
• Build relationships with key accounts, rental fleet owners and major sites; ensure proactive visits and health checks.
• Ensure professional conduct and safe working practices at customer sites, including compliance with site rules.

D. Spares & Service Commercial Discipline

• Coordinate with spares/stores and logistics to ensure availability and timely movement of critical spares.
• Monitor consumption trends, reduce emergency procurement, and recommend stocking norms for the region.
• Support service revenue growth (labour recovery, AMCs/PM contracts, paid retrofits/upgrades) and ensure approvals are followed.

E. Process, Systems & Reporting (Service CRM)

• Ensure 100% adoption of Service CRM for job logging, updates, closures and service history.
• Publish periodic MIS for the region: open calls, ageing, closures, repeat failures, warranty trends, and utilisation.
• Provide structured feedback to Design/Production on chronic quality issues and field failure patterns.

F. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with company safety standards during service activities (working at height for boom service, LOTO where applicable, safe lifting/rigging).
• Ensure tools, gauges and measuring equipment are used correctly and maintained in serviceable condition.

3. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience:

• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in servicing concrete line pumps and boom pumps.
• Minimum 3 years in a leadership/people management role in service operations.

Certifications / Licenses:

• Proficiency in Service CRM usage and digital reporting.
• Valid driving licence.

5. WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment:

Travel frequently within the assigned region for on-site service activities.
