Job Description

Overview:

API testing

Key Responsibilities:

API Testing:

Design, develop, and execute test cases for
RESTful and SOAP APIs
Validate
request/response payloads
, headers, status codes, and error handling
Perform
functional
,
regression
,
performance
, and
security testing
of APIs

Automation & Tools:

Build and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as
Postman
,
RestAssured
,
SoapUI
, or
Karate
Integrate API tests into
CI/CD pipelines
using tools like
Jenkins
,
GitLab CI
, etc.

Collaboration & Reporting:

Work closely with developers and product managers to understand API specifications and business requirements
Document test results, log defects, and provide detailed feedback to stakeholders

Quality Assurance:

Ensure APIs meet performance benchmarks and handle edge cases gracefully
Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving testing strategies

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in
Computer Science
,
Engineering
, or a related field
2+ years
of experience in QA or software testing, with a strong focus on
API testing
Solid understanding of
HTTP
,
JSON
,
XML
, and API authentication methods (e.g.,
OAuth
,
JWT
)
Experience with API testing tools:
Postman
,
RestAssured
,
SoapUI
, etc.
Familiarity with scripting/programming languages:
JavaScript
,
Python
, or
Java
Knowledge of
Git
for version control and
JIRA
for issue tracking

Preferred Skills:

Experience with
performance testing tools
like
JMeter
or
Gatling
Familiarity with
microservices architecture
and
containerized environments
(e.g.,
Docker

Exposure to
Agile/Scrum methodologies
ISTQB
or similar QA certification
