Position Summary The Kitchen Helper supports the culinary team by maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workspace. Primary responsibilities include basic food preparation, washing dishes, and ensuring the kitchen meets health and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Food Preparation: Wash, peel, and chop vegetables and fruits. Measure ingredients and assist with simple food assembly (e.g., salads, sandwiches). Portion out snacks or desserts according to specific recipes or guidelines. Sanitation & Maintenance: Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using industrial dishwashers or by hand. Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen by sweeping, mopping, and taking out the trash. Sanitize workstations, cutting boards, and equipment throughout the shift. Inventory & Storage: Unload delivery trucks and store supplies in the correct areas (pantry, fridge, or freezer). Ensure all food items are labeled and dated using the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) method. Notify the Chef or Manager when supplies are running low. Compliance: Follow all local health department regulations and safety protocols. Operate kitchen machinery (mixers, slicers, etc.) safely and properly. Qualifications & Skills Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not always required. Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant is a plus, but not mandatory Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 10 to 20 kgs, and work in a hot, humid environment. Reliability: Strong punctuality and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. Teamwork: A positive attitude and the ability to take direction from Chefs and Supervisors.
