Position Summary ​The Kitchen Helper supports the culinary team by maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workspace. Primary responsibilities include basic food preparation, washing dishes, and ensuring the kitchen meets health and safety standards. ​Key Responsibilities ​Food Preparation: ​Wash, peel, and chop vegetables and fruits. ​Measure ingredients and assist with simple food assembly (e.g., salads, sandwiches). ​Portion out snacks or desserts according to specific recipes or guidelines. ​Sanitation & Maintenance: ​Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using industrial dishwashers or by hand. ​Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen by sweeping, mopping, and taking out the trash. ​Sanitize workstations, cutting boards, and equipment throughout the shift. ​Inventory & Storage: ​Unload delivery trucks and store supplies in the correct areas (pantry, fridge, or freezer). ​Ensure all food items are labeled and dated using the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) method. ​Notify the Chef or Manager when supplies are running low. ​Compliance: ​Follow all local health department regulations and safety protocols. ​Operate kitchen machinery (mixers, slicers, etc.) safely and properly. ​Qualifications & Skills ​Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not always required. ​Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant is a plus, but not mandatory ​Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 10 to 20 kgs, and work in a hot, humid environment. ​Reliability: Strong punctuality and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. ​Teamwork: A positive attitude and the ability to take direction from Chefs and Supervisors.
