A Production Manager in the Steel Melting Shop (SMS) of a steel plant at Urla is primarily responsible for ensuring efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective steel production by managing daily operations, teams, and production schedules. This role requires hands-on management of steel melting processes, quality assurance, resource planning, and operational discipline.​ Key Responsibilities Oversee daily SMS operations to meet production targets in terms of quantity, quality, and deadline adherence.​ Develop and implement production schedules, ensuring seamless workflow from raw material charging to final product casting.​ Manage, guide, and support supervisors, engineers, and workers, ensuring optimal team performance and discipline.​ Maintain strict quality control standards, conduct regular inspections, and swiftly resolve quality-related issues.​ Monitor raw material usage, optimize melting practices, and focus on process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.​ Coordinate closely with maintenance for preventive upkeep of furnaces, ladles, cranes, and other shop equipment to minimize downtime.​ Track production metrics, create operational reports (MIS), and communicate performance to senior management.​ Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and spares.​ Foster a strong safety culture by implementing health and safety standards and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.​ Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives and training programs for staff development and operational excellence.​ Skills and Qualifications Strong technical expertise in steel melting processes (EAF, LRF, or Induction Furnace) and quality assurance systems.​ Proven leadership and team management skills for motivating and supervising large operational teams.​ Proficiency in setting production targets, process control, and resolving real-time operational challenges.​ Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical, or related engineering field, with extensive experience in steel plant SMS operations preferred.​ The Production Manager's leadership in SMS ensures the plant consistently produces high-grade steel, maintains safe operations, and meets business goals.​ Job Type: Full-time Pay: From ₹25,000.00 per month Work Location: Remote
