About the Role
Equinix ISD is seeking a highly skilled AI Platform Engineer to own, modernize, and scale an internal AI-enabled delivery platform supporting Distributed AI programs with NVIDIA, Dell, HPE, Lenovo, and other OEM partners.
This role combines AI tooling, Python development, GitHub engineering, knowledge management, automation, and platform governance. The successful candidate will be responsible for transforming a mature but highly specialized AI ecosystem into a scalable platform that can be used effectively by both technical and non-technical users.
The role is hands-on and delivery-focused, requiring expertise in AI agents, Claude Code, RAG systems, Python development, GitHub-based software lifecycle management, SharePoint integrations, and enterprise knowledge systems.
Key Responsibilities
AI Platform Ownership & Enhancement
- Maintain and extend AI toolkits, Python libraries, dashboards, reports, and automation workflows.
- Support integrations with SharePoint, Smartsheet, and enterprise collaboration platforms.
- Ensure reliability, usability, and scalability of the AI delivery ecosystem.
AI Agent & Claude Platform Optimization
- Analyze token consumption and execution efficiency across Claude-based workflows.
- Design and implement solutions that reduce context-window dependency through:
- MCP Servers
- Claude Tool Use
- Plugins
- Agent SDK Services
- Internal AI Applications
- Establish performance baselines and demonstrate measurable reductions in execution cost and runtime.
Version Control & Release Management
- Lead migration of existing AI tools and libraries into GitHub.
- Design repository structure, branching strategy, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes.
- Implement controls to ensure business data, customer information, pricing content, and knowledge assets remain outside source repositories.
- Build secure distribution mechanisms enabling non-technical users to easily deploy and consume platform releases.
Knowledge Base Modernization
- Transform a large-scale Obsidian knowledge base into a reliable enterprise retrieval system.
- Implement:
- Secure access controls
- Grounded retrieval mechanisms
- Source citation frameworks
- User contribution workflows
- Multi-user collaboration capabilities
- Ensure AI-generated responses provide source attribution and gracefully respond with "I don't know" when information is unavailable.
Documentation & Governance
- Create technical documentation, runbooks, architecture documents, and user guides.
- Support operational governance and platform adoption across technical and non-technical teams.
- Enforce security, compliance, and knowledge provenance standards.

Must-Have Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Python Development, Platform Engineering, or AI Automation.
- Demonstrated experience building AI-enabled applications or agentic systems.
- Strong GitHub and software lifecycle management experience.
- Experience implementing RAG, enterprise search, or knowledge retrieval platforms.
- Experience working with non-technical business users and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD and software release processes.
