The role focuses on ensuring manufacturability, quality, and cost-effectiveness through efficient design and optimization of tooling, fixtures, and jigs. It requires strong hands-on experience in mechanical drafting, jig & fixture design, process flow creation, and statistical validation of assembly operations to support smooth, reliable, and high-quality production. Job Description: - Design, develop, and optimize jigs, fixtures, tooling, and assembly aids specific to Eaxle components to ensure precision, repeatability, throughput, safety, and ergonomics. - Create and review detailed mechanical drawings, CAD models, tolerancing, GD&T, and drafting of parts and assemblies. Ensure compliance with standards. - Define, document, and implement assembly process flows, work instructions, SOPs, and standard operating procedures. - Lead process validation / qualification of assembly processes: including but not limited to pilot runs, first article inspections, measurement systems analysis (MSA), capability studies (Cp, Cpk), process capability, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), control plans. - Conduct time studies, line balancing, throughput optimization, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation to improve yield, reduce cycle time, and minimize scrap. - Support continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma) to identify and drive cost-saving opportunities and productivity gains in the assembly line. - Troubleshoot production issues, both tooling/jig issues and assembly process problems to maintain stable, highquality output. - Work with maintenance and tooling teams to ensure jigs/fixtures are maintained, repaired, or modified as needed. - Manage supplier or vendor relationships for tooling and fixture suppliesspecifying requirements, evaluating proposals, ensuring delivery to quality, cost, and schedule.
