Accountant - Bookkeeping & Taxation

About the opportunity

This role is with a well-established MEP/EPC contracting organisation based in Gurgaon, delivering mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and fire-protection systems across industrial and commercial projects. The search is being managed by Cusec Consulting, a management and talent-advisory firm partnering with leading real-estate, infrastructure and MEP/EPC organisations.

We are seeking an Accountant – Bookkeeping & Taxation to maintain accurate books of account and manage day-to-day GST and TDS compliance through to the finalisation of accounts, across the organisation’s Gurgaon and Hyderabad operations.

Role overview

Reporting to the Accounts Manager / Head – Finance, the Accountant – Bookkeeping & Taxation owns the integrity of the books — recording transactions, maintaining ledgers, managing GST and TDS compliance, carrying out reconciliations, and supporting finalisation of books of account up to Trial Balance, Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet. The role suits a hands-on accountant with strong taxation knowledge and proven experience in finalisation.

Key responsibilities

1. Bookkeeping and ledgers. Record day-to-day transactions in Tally/ERP — purchases, sales, expenses, journal entries, cash and bank — and maintain accurate, up-to-date ledgers with supporting documentation.

2. GST compliance. Compute and file GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B), reconcile input tax credit against GSTR-2A/2B, handle e-invoicing and e-way bills, and resolve mismatches.

3. TDS compliance. Deduct, deposit and reconcile TDS/TCS; prepare and file quarterly returns (26Q/27Q); issue Form 16/16A; and track lower-deduction certificates.

4. Reconciliation. Carry out bank, vendor, customer and ledger reconciliations and resolve differences promptly.

5. Finalisation of books. Pass closing and adjustment entries (provisions, prepaid, depreciation, accruals) and prepare the Trial Balance, P&L and Balance Sheet for finalisation of accounts.

6. Audit and reporting. Support statutory, internal and tax audits with schedules and documentation, and prepare periodic MIS as required.

Required qualifications and skills

• B.Com / M.Com (CA Inter / CMA Inter an advantage).
• 5–10 years’ experience in accounting and bookkeeping, with hands-on taxation and finalisation of books.
• Strong working knowledge of GST and TDS compliance (returns, reconciliation, e-invoicing).
• Proven experience in finalisation of books of account up to Balance Sheet.
• Proficiency in Tally / ERP accounting and strong MS Excel.
• Accuracy, integrity and the ability to meet statutory and reporting deadlines.

Preferred (good to have)

• Experience in construction / MEP / EPC or other project-based accounting.
• Exposure to works-contract GST and project taxation.
• Willingness to be based at either the Gurgaon or Hyderabad office.
