Commencement Date - Immediate Location - Khar West, Mumbai I. Overview & Objectives The Academic Coordinator leads and manages the end-to-end administration of our Institute’s educational programmes, ensuring they are delivered with rigour, monitored continuously and reviewed regularly to uphold Abbey Road Institute’s reputation for excellence. As a member of the senior leadership team, you will work hand-in-hand with the Institute Director, as well as the Global Programme Director, to implement approved academic policies and procedures in alignment with our strategic priorities, internal course standards and external regulatory requirements. In this role, you hold ultimate responsibility for the accuracy, relevance and format of all lecture materials. You will commission and review any necessary local adaptations including but not limited to checking content, delivery timing, exam alignment and supplementary resources, which will guarantee that every aspect of the curriculum meets our exacting quality benchmarks. Your proactive oversight will ensure that academic standards are consistently maintained and opportunities for enhancement are promptly identified. Equally important is your commitment to creating a professional and supportive learning environment. You will ensure that students are treated as emerging industry professionals, have access to the tools and guidance they need, and adhere to the Institute’s code of conduct. You will act as the first point of contact for student welfare issues, directing any concerns to the appropriate —to safeguard both well-being and academic focus. Through these combined responsibilities, you will play a pivotal role in sustaining and elevating the student experience at our shared commercial studio and Abbey Road Institute facility. II. Academic Leadership & Quality Assurance: Strategic Direction & Implementation Translate Abbey Road Institute’s global academic vision into a clear, locally-relevant plan of action. Set measurable objectives each term, track progress against KPIs and adjust tactics to ensure continuous improvement. Standards, Accreditation & Compliance Maintain intimate knowledge of Abbey Road’s global quality frameworks and national regulatory requirements. Coordinate internal audits and prepare for external reviews, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date. Programme Documentation & Reporting Oversee the creation and periodic revision of programme handbooks, module descriptors and assessment guides. Lead the moderation process, review sample assessments, convene moderation panels and produce termly academic quality reports for senior management. 2. Curriculum & Delivery: Curriculum Currency & Enhancement Conduct regular benchmarking against international audio-education providers to identify new topics, technologies or pedagogical approaches. Collaborate with industry advisors to integrate real-world case studies, guest lectures and project briefs into modules. Teaching Standards & Support Observe and provide feedback on lectures and workshops, sharing best practice on active learning, studio demonstrations and assessment design. Organise faculty development sessions (e.g. peer teaching circles, technology tool-kits) and curate a resource library of lecture slides, sample assignments and multimedia assets. Student Selection & Induction Design competency-based interview questions and practical auditions to assess applicants’ creative potential and technical foundation. Oversee returning-student suitability checks to ensure progression criteria are met. 3. Student Support & Welfare: Orientation & Ongoing Engagement Plan and deliver comprehensive orientation programmes, including facility tours, software and equipment inductions, and student-life briefings. Schedule regular “check-in” meetings each term to review academic progress, wellbeing and any visa-related concerns for foreign students. Record-Keeping & Compliance Maintain a secure, GDPR-compliant student database, capturing contact details, sponsor information and attendance logs. Monitor attendance rigorously; escalate unexplained absences promptly. Grievance Resolution & Wellbeing Serve as the first point of contact for academic or personal grievances, conduct fact-finding meetings and liaise with counselling or support services as needed. Collate student feedback via surveys and focus groups, identifying recurring themes and collaborating with departments on targeted improvements. 4. Administration & Systems: Policy Implementation & Maintenance Draft, publish and routinely review academic policies—e.g. assessment regulations, deferral processes and academic integrity guidelines. Ensure all staff have easy access to up-to-date procedures via the Institute intranet. Digital Records Management Lead the transition to paperless record-keeping: scanning, indexing and securely archiving all student forms, assessment submissions and meeting minutes. Oversee regular backups and access audits to guarantee data integrity and confidentiality. Staff Recruitment & Performance Management Coordinate job advertising, shortlisting and interview panels for academic hires. Conduct probation reviews, annual appraisals and identify training needs to support continuous professional growth. 5. Professional Development & Industry Engagement: Scholarly & Creative Growth Maintain an active program of research or creative practice, publishing articles, presenting at conferences or producing original compositions. Share insights with faculty through seminars or invited guest speakers. Industry Partnerships & Employability Cultivate relationships with studios, labels and post-production houses to secure internships, masterclasses and live project briefs. Mentor recent graduates: help develop portfolios, conduct mock interviews and facilitate networking opportunities with alumni. 6. General: Contribute to team efforts and attend meetings Undertake any other duties as required by the Institute IV. Qualifications, Experience and Personal Qualities Proven academic leadership skills. Demonstrated high level of communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to plan, organise, prioritise and meet deadlines. Graduate/Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline area. Teaching experience and relevant industry experience. Demonstrable credit list of works and projects involving prominent artists. Demonstrable ability to deliver quality teaching and produce relevant learning resources Demonstrable ability to generate employability opportunities for Institute graduates via direct connections with the local music industry. Willingness to mentor Institute graduates seeking job opportunities Demonstrated client service orientation. Ability to work in and foster a harmonious working environment. Willingness to pursue professional development opportunities. Proficient in the use of standard office software and database systems. Good extended knowledge of the Music Production and Audio Engineering industries. Ability to advise on the selection, development and use of appropriate educational strategies and technologies. Familiarity with and understanding of key regulatory frameworks and relevant legislation of the Territory. Fluent in Hindi & English. V.
