Job Description

Lead the org with first level management team and senior ICs. Build and lead charter to re-architect s platform data plane service to scale to 10x growth by implementing sharding/cell-based architecture and improve application and memory performance. You will build a team which brings together low-level building blocks to build a highly scalable and performant system that can handle hundreds of millions of requests per second. You will work with experts and architects across OCI to define develop and implement solutions to complex scaling problems As a Director of Software Development, you will lead the platform data plane scalability Organization, leading the engineering teams and supporting various SDLC, i.e. development to launch and operations/support. You should be a distributed systems generalist, able to architect broad systems interactions, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and lower-level system interactions. Providing leadership, direction, and strategy for a growing team. Establishing and developing the organizational capacity needed to execute on strategy. Mentoring and developing other leaders and senior engineers. Successfully leading as site lead for the larger geographically distributed organization. Delivering large-scale project on-time with the high quality. Overseeing operational teams supporting products in production under customer load. Working with OCI leadership, senior engineers, program managers, and product managers to develop compelling products and services that meet customer needs. Providing guidance and constructive feedback to team members and other stakeholders. Raising the bar for product quality and customer experience. Qualifications 20+ years of experience in the software industry with 10+ years in Engineering Management leading agile teams on design, development, and delivery of highly scalable products. Strong, demonstrable track record for hiring and retaining top-tier talent. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate a vision and get people invested in success. Exposure to the process and nuances of operationalizing and supporting products and services used by thousands of customers simultaneously. Ability to create, drive and evangelize cross-team processes and achieve org-wide impact. Knowledge of C++, Java programming language and its ecosystem. Good understanding of Micro-service based architectures, Distributed systems, Storage systems and Cloud. Previous experience leading engineering teams in cloud computing, enterprise software, or fast-paced start-ups is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix fundamentals. Strong knowledge of operating systems, databases, storage and distributed systems fundamentals.
