Mold Designer

Role & responsibilities

• Design plastic injection moulds and rubber compression/transfer moulds using CAD software.
• Prepare 3D mould designs, 2D manufacturing drawings, and detailed component drawings.
• Understand product drawings, GD&T, shrinkage allowances, parting lines, draft angles, and ejection systems.
• Design core, cavity, runner, gate, cooling, and ejection systems for plastic injection moulds.
• Design rubber moulds considering material flow, flash control, venting, and curing requirements.
• Select suitable mould materials, standard components, and mould construction methods.
• Coordinate with CNC programming, VMC, EDM, and mould-fitting teams to ensure manufacturability.
• Support mould trials, troubleshoot design-related issues, and implement necessary design modifications.

Preferred candidate profile

• ITI / Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die Making, or a relevant technical field.
• Practical knowledge of plastic injection moulds and rubber compression/transfer moulds is preferred.
• Experience in mould design, including core-cavity design, parting lines, cooling, runner systems, and ejection mechanisms.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as UG NX, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD.
• Ability to read and interpret 2D engineering drawings and 3D models.
• Candidates with knowledge of both plastic and rubber mould design will be preferred.
• Experienced designers and candidates with basic knowledge who are willing to learn and develop their skills may apply.
