Company Description EcoDebris Recycling is dedicated to addressing the environmental pollution caused by plastic waste, especially in soils and seas. Our mission is to recycle plastic waste into eco-friendly and durable products for homes and F&B establishments. We aim to make a positive change in the world and transform people’s perceptions of waste through our innovative and competitive designs. Role Description We are seeking a creative and technically proficient Furniture Designer with specialized experience in designing products for Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and other digital fabrication methods. This role is essential for our modern manufacturing approach, focusing on creating innovative, aesthetically pleasing, and highly efficient 'flat-pack' or modular furniture that maximizes the capabilities of CNC routing and minimizes material waste. Key Responsibilities: Design & Conceptualization: Conceptualize and develop new furniture lines and bespoke pieces, focusing on functionality, aesthetics, ergonomics, and cost-effectiveness. Conduct material research, especially concerning recycled plastic sheets, to understand their properties, limitations, and optimal use in CNC production. Digital Fabrication & Technical Drawing: Create detailed 2D and 3D models of furniture using industry-standard CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, SolidWorks, Fusion 360). Critical Responsibility: Prepare models specifically for CNC routing, ensuring all joints (e.g., finger joints, mortise and tenon, cam locks) are designed for precision and efficient fabrication. Develop detailed assembly instructions and technical drawings, including bill of materials (BOM), dimensions, and material specifications for the production team. Collaborate with the CNC Operator to generate or optimize toolpaths (using CAM software) to ensure efficient cutting, nesting (maximizing material usage), and high-quality edge finishes. Oversee the fabrication of prototypes, making necessary design adjustments based on test cuts and assembly trials to refine the final product. Production & Quality Assurance: Ensure designs adhere to local and international quality standards for furniture stability and durability. Actively seek opportunities to reduce material waste, simplify assembly processes, and lower production costs through smart design and nesting strategies. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, or a related field. 1-3 years of professional experience in furniture design, with a focus on products designed for serial production. Proven experience designing "flat-pack" or modular furniture and understanding the limitations and opportunities of CNC routing, particularly with sheet materials (plywood, MDF, plastic composites). Proficiency in at least one professional 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., Rhino, SolidWorks) and 2D drafting (AutoCAD). Familiarity with CAM software and the ability to review or adjust toolpaths (e.g., VCarve, Mastercam, Fusion 360 CAM). Strong visual and spatial reasoning skills, combined with a practical understanding of joinery, hardware, and assembly processes. Preferred: Experience working with recycled plastic materials or composites. A portfolio showcasing previous CNC-fabricated furniture projects. How to Apply: Please email your up to date CV along with a supporting cover letter to our team at ecodebrisrecycling@gmail.com.
