Consultant Microbiologist and Infection Control Officer

Key Responsibilities:

Infection Control Officer (Primary Role)

> Lead and manage the Hospital Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Program as per the latest NABH standards.

> Develop, implement, monitor, and continuously improve infection prevention policies, protocols, and SOPs.

> Conduct active surveillance of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs) and prepare analytical reports with corrective and preventive action plans.

> Ensure strict compliance with hand hygiene, isolation precautions, biomedical waste management, sterilization, disinfection, and environmental cleaning practices.

> Conduct regular hospital-wide infection control audits and risk assessments.

> Head Infection Control Committee activities and present surveillance findings and action plans before the management.

> Coordinate effectively with Consultants, Clinicians, Nursing Services, OT, ICU, CSSD, Housekeeping, and Support Departments.

> Conduct regular training, education, awareness programs, and competency assessments for hospital staff.

> Ensure readiness for NABH assessments, internal audits, and statutory inspections.

> Drive a culture of accountability and patient safety throughout the organization.

Consultant Microbiologist (Secondary Role)

> Review microbiology laboratory reports, cultures, and sensitivity patterns.

> Guide clinicians on microbiological investigations and evidence-based antibiotic usage.

> Support and lead Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (AMSP) initiatives as applicable.

> Prepare and review hospital antibiograms and resistance trends.

> Assist in infection surveillance and outbreak investigations.

> Provide microbiological inputs during Infection Control Committee meetings.

> Ensure laboratory practices comply with NABH and applicable quality standards.
