Employment Type: Full‑time Salary range: Commis I: 18-22k Commis II: 12-15k RK Resorts, a vibrant 3‑star resort on the Karaikal coast, is seeking energetic and detail‑oriented Commis I and Commis II chefs to support our kitchen brigade. If you’re passionate about food and eager to develop your culinary career, come grow with us! Role Overview Commis I: Entry‑level role assisting all stations under supervision. Ideal for recent culinary school graduates or those with up to 1 year of kitchen experience. Commis II: Intermediate support position; requires 1–2 years of professional kitchen experience and greater responsibility for basic cooking tasks across multiple sections. You’ll rotate through various sections (South Indian, Bakery, Tandoor, Chinese, Continental), maintain mise‑en‑place, assist in food preparation, and help uphold our high standards of quality, hygiene, and presentation. Key Responsibilities Common to Both Levels Prepare and portion ingredients (vegetables, meats, doughs, batters, spices). Maintain station cleanliness and organization; follow food‑safety guidelines. Assist Senior Commis, Demi Chef de Partie, and Chef de Partie with cooking, plating, and garnishing. Restock supplies and monitor inventory; inform supervisor of shortages. Clean and sanitize work areas, tools, and equipment at shift end. Additional for Commis II Take on simple cooking duties independently (e.g., basic stir‑fries, simple tandoor items, baked goods). Help train Commis I and apprentices in station procedures. Assist with quality checks (taste, temperature, consistency) before service. Qualifications & Skills Commis I: Culinary diploma or certificate (preferred) or strong interest in beginning a culinary career. Up to 1 year of kitchen or food‑prep experience. Commis II: 1–2 years in a professional kitchen (hotel, resort, or restaurant). Basic understanding of cooking techniques (boiling, sautéing, baking, grilling). All Applicants: Positive attitude, team‑player mindset, willingness to learn. Ability to stand for long shifts and lift up to 25 lbs. Attention to detail and good time‑management skills. Food‑safety certification a plus. Working Hours & Compensation Hours: Approximately 40+ hours/week, rotating shifts (including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays). Salary: Competitive, based on experience and skill level.
