The Associate General Manager Projects will be responsible for independently executing medium-sized projects or a portfolio of small projects, ensuring delivery within approved budgets, timelines, quality standards and contractual obligations. The role involves leading and coordinating cross-functional project teams, including Project Engineers and Discipline Engineers, to achieve targeted project revenue, timely collections and maximum profitability while maintaining the highest standards of safety.
The position will serve as the single point of contact for customers and consultants, ensuring effective project coordination, stakeholder management and successful project delivery in accordance with contractual commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and independently manage the execution of medium-sized EPC projects or multiple small projects from initiation to completion.
- Ensure projects are delivered within approved budgets, timelines, quality standards and contractual requirements.
- Monitor project progress, costs, schedules, resource utilization and performance through effective control mechanisms.
- Lead and coordinate Project Engineers, Discipline Engineers, contractors, vendors and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Act as the primary interface with customers and consultants, ensuring effective communication and timely resolution of project-related issues.
- Manage contractual obligations, project risks, variations, claims and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive effective cash-flow management, revenue realization and timely collection of project payments.
- Identify potential project risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize cost overruns and schedule delays.
- Ensure effective coordination across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and other project functions.
- Drive project profitability through effective cost control, resource optimization and timely execution.
- Ensure compliance with organizational safety standards, quality requirements and applicable statutory regulations.
- Prepare and review project progress reports, forecasts, budgets and management updates.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of project management fundamentals and EPC project execution.
- Proven experience in handling large EPC contracts and independently managing project delivery.
- Strong knowledge of contract management, risk management and change management.
- Expertise in project cost control, budgeting and cash-flow management.
- Good understanding of Air Separation Unit (ASU) projects and related technologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple project priorities.

Educational Qualification & Experience
- BE/B.Tech in Engineering; MBA would be an added advantage.
- 15+ years of relevant experience in project management and execution, preferably within EPC, industrial gases, chemical plants or process industries.
- Demonstrated experience in independently managing large EPC projects or contracts.
- Hands-on experience in contract administration, project risk management, change management and cash-flow management.
- Knowledge and understanding of ASU (Air Separation Unit) projects is essential.
Key Requirement: Candidates must have strong EPC project execution experience, proven independent project management capabilities and sound knowledge of ASU projects.
