Description
Responsibilities: Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, or work orders to determine project requirements. Take accurate measurements and mark dimensions on sheet metal materials. Cut, shape, and form sheet metal using tools such as shears, saws, drills, brakes, and punches. Use hand and power tools to trim, deburr, smooth, and finish sheet metal edges. Fit and assemble sheet metal components according to specifications, using techniques like riveting, welding, soldering, or bolting. Inspect and verify the accuracy of fabricated sheet metal components for proper fit and alignment. Make adjustments or modifications to sheet metal parts as needed to ensure proper installation. Collaborate with other team members, such as welders, fabricators, or installers, to coordinate workflow and complete projects on time. Adhere to safety guidelines and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when working with sheet metal and related tools. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper storage and handling of sheet metal materials and tools. Report any equipment malfunctions, material shortages, or quality issues to supervisors. Requirements: Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Fitter or similar role. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques, materials, and tools. Ability to accurately measure and mark dimensions on sheet metal materials. Experience with cutting, shaping, and forming sheet metal using various tools and equipment. Familiarity with joining techniques such as riveting, welding, soldering, or bolting. Attention to detail and the ability to ensure precise fit and alignment of sheet metal components. Physical stamina and manual dexterity to handle and manipulate sheet metal materials. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make adjustments or modifications to achieve desired results. Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team. High school diploma or equivalent qualification. Relevant certifications or technical training in sheet metal fabrication is a plus.
