The Technical Superintendent is responsible for the operational efficiency and safety of assigned vessels, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. This role oversees the technical management, maintenance, and repair of the vessels, aiming for minimal downtime and optimal performance. The Technical Superintendent works closely with crew, classification societies, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure the safe, economical, and efficient operation of each vessel in the fleet. Key Responsibilities: Technical Management Oversee the technical performance and condition of assigned vessels, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company standards. Plan, schedule, and supervise regular maintenance, repairs, dry docking, and modifications in collaboration with vendors and shipyards. Conduct routine inspections of vessels and provide technical guidance to ensure safe and efficient operation. Analyze and report on vessel performance, making recommendations for improvement where needed. Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, and flag state requirements. Collaborate with classification societies and other regulatory bodies to maintain vessel certification. Conduct safety audits and drills, promoting a culture of safety and regulatory adherence on board. Coordinate and implement preventive maintenance systems and ensure accurate reporting. Budget Management Prepare, monitor, and control budgets for assigned vessels, ensuring cost-effective operations. Identify and manage cost-reduction initiatives without compromising safety or quality. Track expenses and provide accurate reporting to management. Crew Support Support onboard crew with technical guidance and ensure proper training for safe vessel operation. Provide remote assistance for troubleshooting and emergencies. Stakeholder Communication Serve as the primary point of contact for vessel-related technical issues. Collaborate with other departments, including Marine Operations, HSQE, and Finance, to ensure alignment with overall company objectives. Emergency Response Respond to emergency situations, providing technical support and coordinating corrective actions as needed. Conduct incident investigations and prepare reports with recommendations for preventing future incidents. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering or related field, or equivalent maritime training. Experience: 2-3 years as a Technical Superintendent on Geared Bulk carriers Skills: Strong understanding of vessel management, including maintenance, repair, and safety protocols. Familiarity with IMO regulations, classification societies, and flag state requirements. Proficiency in using fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
