Business Unit: Automotive Practice The Automotive Practice at Epsilon is a rapidly expanding team that drives significant growth for major players in the automotive industry, from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to dealerships across North America. As part of a 1,600-member global team, this practice operates the automotive world's largest service reminder platform, alongside offering agency services and digital media solutions. A leader in the automotive space, the team supports over 50% of auto dealerships in North America and manages relationships with over 280 million customers . This team is a hub for innovation and cutting-edge technology, excelling in developing best-in-class software and solutions for hyper-personalized digital marketing. Role: Lead Software Engineer (Oracle & PL/SQL) The Lead Software Engineer position requires strong Oracle database knowledge to work on a complex, rule-based, multi-channel marketing campaign platform that supports Fortune 100 companies. This role involves comprehensive responsibilities across the software development lifecycle, focusing on database design, development, and support within a high-performance environment. Summary of Purpose: Setup/Configuration: Setup and configuration of the development environment. Analysis & Design: Analysis and design of new and enhanced features for the marketing platform as per business requirements. Communication & Delivery: Communication with QA, product, and production support teams to deliver new or enhanced features and address issues/concerns. Development: Development of features as per design provided. Troubleshooting & Support: Assistance to the Production Support team for troubleshooting issues. Automation: Development work for automation of operational tasks. System Upgrades: Support for system patch or version upgrades. Reporting: Assistance with reporting tasks. Key Responsibilities Collaboration: Collaborate with developers, project managers, business analysts, and business users in conceptualizing, estimating, and developing new software applications and enhancements. Project Planning: Assist in defining software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, providing time estimates for programming tasks, and implementation plans. Requirements & Specifications: Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of software's objectives, business requirements, deliverables, and specifications in collaboration with internal users and departments. Technical Documentation: Develop technical documentation to define the system components, development environment, and implementation planning/strategies. Team Guidance: Prepare and dispense work assignments, provide guidance, and/or review the work of other team members. QA Collaboration: Collaborate with the QA team to define test cases, metrics, and resolve questions about test results. Process Improvement: Recommend business process flow improvements and clearly communicate problem/resolution processes to project management. Solution Implementation: Develops and implements solutions in accordance with policies and procedures. Design Facilitation: Facilitate the design and implementation process for new products/projects, informing senior executives of alternatives. Project Documentation: Administer full project documentation efforts in accordance with policy and procedure. Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Perform root cause analysis (RCA). Incident Resolution: Work with cross-functional teams during crisis to address and resolve complex incidents and problems, in addition to assessment, analysis, and resolution of cross-functional issues. Policy Improvement: Recognize and identify potential areas where existing policies and procedures associated with development require improvement and assist in the process improvement activity. Knowledge Management: Update/create Knowledge Base Articles and case studies as necessary. Assist in the creation and improvement of Knowledge Management. Qualifications Experience: 9-12 years of experience as a developer. Database Design: Must have 5+ years of experience in Database Design, Data architecture, and Process Control flow . Oracle & PL/SQL: Excellent skills in Oracle databases and PL/SQL . Unix & Shell Scripting: Strong in Unix environment and capable of Unix Shell scripting. Scalability & Performance: Ability to design and implement solutions that are reliable, scalable, and perform at a high-level to meet the service levels associated with mission-critical Oracle-based solutions. Database Architecture Best Practices: Knowledge of database architecture and best practices for Oracle SQL and PL/SQL coding style and application tuning. Enterprise Application Development: Experience designing and developing complex enterprise applications (ERP, CRM, etc.) on large Oracle databases using SDLC methodologies (Agile, Waterfall). Impact & Root Cause Analysis: Excellent in impact-analysis and root cause analysis. Problem-Solving: Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to anticipate and avoid problems. Performance Tuning & Support: Experience in performance tuning, application monitoring, and support of production applications with distributed teams. Migration Strategies: Ability to define and implement migration strategies from legacy systems to new architecture and technologies. Teamwork: Ability to work well within a team environment that includes geographically distributed team members. Deadline Management: Ability to work within tight deadlines and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Communication: Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and an ability to communicate with internal and external customers and all levels of management, including communicating technical information to non-technical audiences. System Design: Ability to design and build flexible and extensible systems with a focus on code reuse and generation. Technical Specifications & Testing: Experience with writing detailed technical specifications for developers; ability to design, validate, and execute software test plans. SDLC Familiarity: Familiar with the Application Development Life Cycle and able to independently participate in each component. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications: Technical: Oracle & Automotive/CRM: Working knowledge of Oracle (PL/SQL and SQL) and experience in automotive marketing and/or CRM applications preferred. ETL & GIT: Experience with Informatica or some ETL tool, and GIT preferred. Solutioning: Strong knowledge in providing solutions. Non-Technical: Analytical & Problem-Solving: Good Analytical and problem-solving skills. Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems quickly to maintain operational stability. Learning Agility: Motivated to learn new applications and domains. Possess an appetite for learning through exploration and reverse engineering.
