Job Summary: The IBDP English Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in International Baccalaureate (IB) English courses, including Language A: Literature and/or Language A: Language and Literature . The role involves fostering critical thinking, analytical writing, and literary appreciation among students while aligning with the IB philosophy. The teacher will also contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and student mentorship to ensure success in the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP). Key Responsibilities: Teaching & Curriculum Development Teach IBDP English courses following IB standards and assessment criteria. Design engaging lessons that develop students' critical reading, writing, and discussion skills. Guide students through the study of a variety of literary and non-literary texts from different cultures and time periods. Prepare students for Internal Assessments (IAs), Paper 1 (Textual Analysis), Paper 2 (Comparative Essay), and the Individual Oral (IO). Incorporate IB core components such as Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) where relevant. Assessment & Student Support Provide formative and summative feedback in line with IB assessment rubrics. Support students in writing their Extended Essay (EE) in English (if applicable). Track student progress and adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs. Prepare students for IB examinations through practice assessments and review sessions. Collaboration & Professional Development Work with IB Coordinators and fellow teachers to ensure alignment with the IB framework. Attend IB training workshops and engage in ongoing professional development. Contribute to the school's IB authorization and evaluation processes. Participate in interdisciplinary projects, school events, and extracurricular activities related to literature and language. Classroom & Resource Management Maintain a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment that encourages inquiry-based learning. Utilize digital tools and resources to enhance student engagement and understanding. Support academic integrity by teaching research skills and citation methods. Qualifications & Requirements: Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in English, Literature, Education, or a related field. Certification: Teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent). IB training certification is an advantage. Experience: Minimum of [X] years teaching English, with experience in IBDP preferred. Skills: Deep understanding of IB curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy. Strong analytical and communication skills. Ability to inspire critical thinking and a love for literature. Experience with integrating technology in the classroom.
