System Development Engineer

Job Description

Your role and responsibilities As a Developer/System programmer, you will be part of the team working on z/OS components. You will be fully hands-on in programming and working in the z/OS Development organization. A strong understanding of software architecture, design and expertise in Agile processes is required. A seasoned Development Engineer who will also perform Testing and who can comfortably interact/collaborate with senior technical/business leaders across the global z/OS development organization is preferred. What you will do: Architect, design, develop z/OS component features and fixes and also execute functional, system and integration test cases. Function as a development and test Engineer who is fully hands-on. Write design documents, test plan and test case documents, review design and test documents, code, unit test, functional/system test, automate tests, fix and verify defects. Prepare status updates and present to the management. Complete ownership of end-to-end deliverables. Identify opportunities for enhancements and define implementation plans. Required education Bachelor's Degree Required technical and professional expertise 5+ years of relevant coding/development experience Strong programming skills in Java, Carbon-React, Containers, Basic SQL, REST API and expertise in CICD, Jenkins, JUNIT Experience with the Software Development life cycle; Designing, coding, unit testing, function/system testing An understanding and experience with Agile software development concepts and processes Good communication skills as this role requires interaction with global stakeholders. Experience in guiding junior professionals. Willingness and ability to learn new technology, proprietary language and ramp up in a short span.
