Job Title: AWS Data Engineer / AWS Data Migration Engineer (Healthcare) Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled AWS Data Engineer / AWS Data Migration Engineer with healthcare data expertise to design, implement, and optimize cloud-based data pipelines for healthcare organizations, payers, and providers. The ideal candidate will have experience migrating healthcare data (EHR, claims, billing, patient records) from on-premises systems to AWS, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, PHI, and data security standards. This role requires expertise in AWS services (S3, Glue, Redshift, DMS, Lambda) and a deep understanding of healthcare data integration, and HIPAA-compliant data processing. Key Responsibilities: Design and implement scalable, HIPAA-compliant data pipelines on AWS for healthcare data. Migrate data from on-premises MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, and legacy systems to AWS (S3, Redshift, RDS, DynamoDB). Utilize AWS DMS, Glue, and PySpark for processing and transforming structured and semi-structured data (FHIR, HL7, JSON, XML). Implement data governance, encryption, and IAM policies to secure PHI and other sensitive patient data. Optimize data partitioning, indexing, and performance tuning for large-scale healthcare datasets. Develop data quality monitoring frameworks to ensure data accuracy and integrity for claims processing, patient records, and reporting. Work closely with healthcare IT, data architects, compliance teams, and DevOps to deliver secure and efficient data solutions. Automate data ingestion, transformation, and reporting using Airflow, Step Functions, or Lambda. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare regulations in all data handling and migration processes. Required Skills: 5+ years of experience in AWS-based data engineering and migration within the healthcare domain. Hands-on experience with AWS DMS, Glue, Redshift, S3, IAM, Lambda, and Kinesis. Strong expertise in SQL, Python, PySpark, and ETL/ELT data processing. Deep understanding of data security, encryption, and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, GDPR). Knowledge of data warehousing, analytics, and data lake best practices for healthcare data. Familiarity with FHIR APIs, RESTful services, and integration with healthcare applications. Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation (Terraform, CloudFormation) is a plus. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with healthcare providers, payers, clearinghouses, or clinical research organizations. AWS Certified Data Engineer Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional is a plus. Familiarity with real-time data streaming for patient monitoring and IoT healthcare devices. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams in a highly regulated healthcare environment.
